Step inside this pâtisserie, boulangerie and specialty coffee temple and experience an olfactory dance of the fruity, floral breath of coffee compliments the sweet, nutty scent of fresh pastry. A perfect, heavenly union which conjures up the vivid dream of a devine breakfast altar where sin and redemption lie on the same plate.

The Pastries: Feuillette Pistachio launches a flamboyant clash of textures where golden shards of pastry shatter and fall before a riotous surge of pistachio cream - a decadent, nut-fueled uprising that leaves your tongue drunk, dazed, and begging for more. Beneath its deeply caramelized, glassy-crisp armor, the Cannelé de Bordeaux conceals a molten heart, tender, custardy, and drunk on dark rum and vanilla - a sinful duet of textures and flavors that crashes over your senses and lingers like a forbidden kiss. The Tarte Citron stands as a fierce runner-up at the altar of Tartine Bakery’s holy lemon tart — the heavenly balanced masterpiece. Le Levain’s version plays in the same league, just a breath away from Tartine’s legendary smoothness and electric citrus fire.

The coffee: If you think coffee is a sideshow here, you’re about to be gracefully crushed by reality. Le Levain’s holy alliance with Picapau, Rome’s renegade roasters, births a swirling carousel of specialty coffees — espresso shots sharp as truth, hand brews slow as prayers, and batch brews rolling out like morning hymns. Choose your bean, confess your sins, and let the local barista priest deliver your liquid salvation. One steaming, sacred cup at a time.

The Atmosphere: Clean lines, big windows, a stripped-back elegance that lets the food do the talking. There’s no terrace. No distraction. Just you, your coffee, your pastry. Locals, from construction workers to corporate executives, as well as sharp-eyed travelers stand in the line, all united in their mutual pursuit of things done right.

Le Levain Café: A love letter to craftsmanship that builds a golden bridge two culinary realms. A pilgrimage site for anyone who believes food is the purest, most human...

We recently stayed in Rome for one night before joining a cruise the next day in Civitavecchia.

We arrived early afternoon at our hotel and visited the nearby Le Levain Café before hitting the streets of Rome and exploring the sites. Our experience was so good that we returned the next morning for breakfast before heading to Civitavecchia to join our cruise.

We particularly appreciated the following while visiting Le Levain Café:

  1. Coffee was roasted on site and tasted delicious! We really like coffee and have sampled it across the world.
  2. Many coffee options were on the menu some of which we had never encountered before. I particularly liked an iced coffee containing small granules of ice, espresso coffee, and cold milk layered on top. I can't remember the name of the drink but it was spectacular.
  3. We also particularly enjoyed the bakery items which we sampled on both our visits. Pain au chocolat for breakfast was to die for!!!
  4. The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed our conversations with them. They were very helpful highlighting places of interest and directions on our map.

All in all, we can highly recommend Le Levain Café to anyone seeking great coffee, bakery items and excellent service in that...

Mellékelem a videót róla.

This restaurant's atmosphere plus interior design is very aesthetically pleasing. I ordered a baguette di prosciutto and a hot matcha latte. The baguette was one of the not so tasty I'ever tried. The bread was stale and there is not much flavor. They also add some sweet potatoes with makes the overall taste very incohesive and... strange? Although it is very difficult to have a good matcha here in rome, this cafe defintely nails it! Love the latte art, the strong tea taste and the right amount of sweetness. *Just a small minus is that laptop use is very limited here considering that cafe in Rome is not usually work-friendly.
