Cheap Pizza Marred by Deceptive Currency Practice - Will Not Return
I had a mixed experience at Pinsere that unfortunately ended on a very sour note, ensuring I will not be returning.
I ordered the eggplant pizza (€7.50). While the pizza itself was fresh and the concept is interesting, I found it to be quite under-seasoned and lacking in flavor compared to other fantastic pizza in Italy.
However, the main issue occurred at payment. I used Apple Pay with my Australian debit card. Without any warning or request for my preference, the payment terminal automatically charged me in Australian Dollars (AUD) instead of Euros. It resulted in me being charged an extra 80 cents AUD due to their terrible, inflated exchange rate.
Having traveled to over 120 countries, I am well aware that the correct choice is always to be charged in the local currency (Euros) and let my bank do the conversion. This is the first time a merchant has automatically applied the DCC option without giving me a choice. This practice feels incredibly deceptive and like a trap for unsuspecting tourists.
The pizza was okay for €7.50. Being unknowingly overcharged on top of that for the "convenience" of a service I did not ask for is unacceptable. A simple heads-up from the staff would have been the ethical thing to do.
I cannot recommend this place when there are countless other amazing and honest bakeries and...
Read moreSome of the best pizza I’ve ever had! The highlight was definitely the crust which was airy and crispy. The toppings were carefully selected, making sure the cheese is mild enough to prevent overshadowing the unique ingredients that are on it, such as the slightly spicy chilli-oil-esq-paste on their signature Spicy Salami Pizza. There are not many different types of pizza, which would be good for the indecisive who just want to eat good food without thinking much. Pizzas are topped and displayed along the main counter and are baked after being chosen by customers. This allows you to get fresh pizza while waiting under 5 minutes. The arancini served was equally as good, having extremely flavourful rice covered in a crispy, perfectly fried coating that isn’t greasy. The workers are very friendly and are incredibly fluent in English, which is useful for tourists. Seating is outside the restaurant but the number seems...
Read moreI was greeted from the entrance, came inside, looked at the menu and they mentioned that only what was on display was available.
I said I was looking also for a coffee, the pinsa server mentioned that the ones on the menu were not available but only the ones on display and If I want coffee I can go somewhere else.
After having decided on a couple of pinsas, in english, he explained to his colleague how to treat the english “cazzi” customers. I finished my order in italian.
They don’t let you choose the pinsa from the menu, only what is on display, probably something from yesterday just to get rid of them.
They brought my pinsa and my girlfriends mixed together.
Overall, a bad experience, I supoort the other reviewers mentioning the rudeness of the personel and the poor value to price ratio.
If you still plan to visit this place, learn italian or a couple of bad words just so you know what you’re getting...
