Let's talk a little bit about humanity here. We went to this place around 10 pm because my mom was sick, in pain, and really needed to use the bathroom. She tried to wait for us to join the hotel but she just wasn't able to take it anymore.
I entered this restaurant very politely, the women do not speak english. It took 2 minutes for her colleague to come meanwhile my mother, still in a lot of pain, asked me if she could enter the bathroom that was just next to her, near the entrance. No disturbance for the few customers inside, I thought that, yes, it could not be an issue. I pull up my credit card, showing that I was willing to pay for the service.
I can't express my astonishment to what happened after that. The woman saw my mother going in the bathroom, ran, and forced open the door (seriously?!). To be honest, my brain took too much time to realise and process this behavior. You can not treat people like this. She could have been naked.
Within seconds, without time to say anything, we were kicked out of the restaurant by the women and her colleague. Because "we are closing." They are customers eating at the tables, sir. I am not blind or stupid.
My mother preferred to suffer 20 minutes, tears in the eyes, fold in two with pain, than to ask to another place and be "treated like a dog again", I quote.
Now, you are not public services, I got that. However, there are ways to treat people, especially if they are willing to pay for the service. You can not force people out of the bathroom when the door is closed.
Sir and madam, you should be ashamed. I also worked in a restaurant as a waiter. A fancier and respected restaurant. My manager would have killed me if this happened, with reason. You are bad for...
Read moreJust a big NO to this place. I have never been disappointed by the whole restaurant at the same time. The manager might not speak English but being arrogant towards your guest is not something we do in hospitality. I understand guest is not always right. But yelling at someone "you are uneducated **" is not ok. The service staff has no clue what is happening around the room. We ordered 2 artichokes salads and 1 pasta. Both of the dishes inedible. How can anyone mess up a pasta dish. Like you are in ITALY. And it was not a pasta that is hard to make its pasta amatriciana. And the salad, omg like i get artichokes are expensive but that doesn't mean you start placing inedible parts of the artichokes. Use the hearts of the artichokes and not the leaves and the hair. Where did the chef go to cullinary school. Basic things are being messed up here. We didnt really touch the food. Had to pay anyways for everything. And instead of trying to get to a middle point with us they were aggressive and incompetent. Please spend your money some place where they will actually care about providing the service to you and make food...
Read morePicture this: May 2023-traveling to Rome with my father (my gift to him). We have walked since 630am and it is well past his preferred lunch time of 12:00. We are wandering around the Esquiline Hill when we stumble, due to the delicious scents wafting from the open door, Gio Gio a Monti. Perfect for lunch and perfect for feeding a hangry Dad :) We opted for a table for 2 on the outdoor terrace-we were shown to a corner table with privacy hedges surrounding two sides. Our server was delightful-she brought us (2) of her favorite pasta dishes. Piping hot fresh pasta with a glass of delicious wine was exactly what we both needed. We enjoyed a lengthy lunch in which the staff all came by to chat with us. The environment was picture perfect. As we lingered over over pasta we had nods of approval from the locals and a few roads of "chin chin." If you are looking for a quiet location with delicious fresh pasta just up the hill from the Altar of the Fatherland-I highly recommend Gio Gio a Monti-I am already looking forward to returning when I am...
