It's actually quite funny how we found this place. In an effort to escape the rain we entered an open door. This open door led us to a little Roma gem.
Gregory's Jazz Club has 2 floors. The ground floor has an excellent bar. Daniel the bartender made our drinks. And the top floor is a Jazz club that plays Jazz from local artists. They also serve some amazing Sushi!!! (try Tenor Madness, Ella's Dream and Baker)
If you are looking for a good drink off the menu you can't go wrong with any. My sister and I had a Nina Simone. With the cold rainy weather I would recommend a Daniel's rainy day (Lemon Tea, Gin, triple sec and honey or an iced London fog with Bailey's). Either way, you can't go wrong with any of the drinks.
We got there at 7:30p and when we got there we were sold when they told us they had jazz music. The only issue that we ran into was put it was at 9:30p. So we waited around and had drinks however the music didn't start until 10:30p and we didn't get to enjoy much of it. This is the only reason why I rated it four stars.
And if you stop in tell Daniel that the three sisters from...
Read moreFrom the second we walked in the door at Gregory's, we knew we made the right choice to come. We were immediately greeted by a waiter who informed us of the night's schedule and invited us to make the place our home. The service here is personal, respectful and incredibly comfortable, and it is clear why many in the club appeared to be longtime patrons. It was clear that our satisfaction and enjoyment that night were of upmost priority, and we will definitely be back!
The espresso martini (or their take on it) was incredible, unlike anything else I have tried. The sushi platter was simply perfect and melted in your mouth.
Not to mention that the band performing — Michele Franzini (piano), Filippo Bianchini (sax), Simone Sansonetti (guitar), Alessandro Bintzios (double bass), Francesco Merenda (drums) — were amazing and captivating. The intimate venue makes you realize you are sitting front and center to truly special music being made. Thank...
Read moreLive band was good. Whiskey was OK. Tried to order food but the waiter forgot to return. But that is OK, because my real problem with Gregory’s Jazz Club is as follows.
Instead of me standing there and arguing the bill with a surprise cost of €10 per person “admission to a concert of 3 songs”, I figured it would be far more prudent to leave an honest review about my experience.
Two of us entered the establishment and was simply asked by the waiter if we would like to sit upstairs where the concert was being played. There was absolutely no mention of the €10 per person “admission to a concert of 3 songs”.
If the waiter had of been honest and up front from the beginning, we could have at least decided for ourselves if we wanted to pay for €20 for a concert that was almost finished. Alas he didn’t and here we are, putting into writing about how we were cheated out of €20.
Gregory’s Jazz Club: good music. OK whiskey. Dishonest and...
