If you want an authentic Roman experience, eat here, ask about their story, and you will not be disappointed. It is less than 100 meters from the main strip of tourist traps in Trastevere, but it couldn’t be further from it. Previously owned by a nonna and run by her family (old name was da Olindo), this place was a neighborhood staple, mainly for locals. The restaurant was purchased by a young man from Trastevere, and he changed the name, ambiance, and online presence (there wasn’t one before), but managed to maintain and even improve the authentic, simple, and delicious food.
The restaurant is quiet and unassuming, but so welcoming. Get any of the Roman pastas (we had the amatriciana and the gricia) and a secondi (the veal saltimbocca was incredibly tender). The cocktails have plenty of ice (a rarity in Rome!). A friend of the owner who is also from Trastevere, Pietro, served my wife and I on our honeymoon, and made us feel like family. Even though we were too stuffed for dessert, the owner and Pietro brought out a complimentary tiramisu, which was the best we’d ever had. Read moreOur family found this hidden gem on accident while we were travelling in Rome in August, and we were so glad to have found this cute little restaurant as they probably have the best service and they service very authentic Italian food. The menu has a great selection of food, we tried five different pasta dishes here and they are all very yummy. We especially love the pasta cooked with porcini mushroom, as well as the ox tail. It’s so soft and tender, and also very flavourful. My dad has hypertension and can’t have very salty food, and we are very glad that we got very attentive waiters as they will come to our table to remind my dad about which dish to avoid. They don’t speak very good English but they try their best to communicate with us. I will give them a five star for their outstanding service...
Read moreThe location is off the main path but it is close. The service was friendly and attentive. The outdoor dining is safety concerning that one can get hit by al mirror as the cars drive by. We chose meatballs, pasta, ravioli, and catch of the day. The dishes were well presented but the taste was not exceptional. The timing of the meal was off. I ordered a first course to share and it came with the second courses. They did provide us with bruschetta because the wait was longer to bake the fresh fish. My second course was not even served, they must have forgotten. I left the others in my party before we paid the check and they came back home with a take-away of...
