I ordered the fried artichoke and Amatriciana pasta. The artichoke was decent, but the choice of delicate artichokes for frying resulted in a mostly dry and flaky taste. The Amatriciana pasta leaned heavily towards saltiness, overloaded with pecorino cheese. On the plus side, the pasta itself was perfectly al dente and skillfully prepared.

Unfortunately, the customer service was a major disappointment. Despite the staff's friendly demeanor, their frantic and rushed behavior, resembling dish runners, took away from the experience. To make matters worse, they even forgot to bring my sautéed spinach side dish. Frustrated, I opted to settle my bill and skip dessert, unwilling to subject myself to the restaurant's ambiance. Additionally, they provided bread without inquiring if I wanted it, which I consumed assuming it was complementary. Surprisingly, the bill included a charge for the bread, a move that felt like a sneaky attempt to extract extra money from patrons.

Remarkably, the sautéed spinach arrived just as I was leaving my table in frustration, remaining untouched as I departed. Dining solo heightened my awareness of these shortcomings; perhaps with company, the lackluster aspects would have been...

Honestly speaking I never had worst experience with any other restaurants in the world. I usually don't want to give a bad review. But this place gave an extra motivation to give the honest feedback. Right from the beginning had worst experience. Initially I did realise something is not wrong. But I did take my time to find their true colour. If your skin is white then the story is different. However if you are other than white then you get an extra care(sarcastic). Somebody from their hotel asked us sit in a last table. Everybody was welcomed with complementary breads but we are not. We asked which vegetarian food would be good. For a sake he just suggested and had been waiting for ages to get our food. Meanwhile we asked about food? He checked with his staff in Italy and he didn't convey us the response. Finally my wife's dish had delivered. Plate was just litterly thrown. Few minutes later my plate received no different treatment. Food was okay just couldn't eat because it was so creamy and cheesy. Few minutes later he came and asked about the food and we just asked for bill and just left...

I went to Hostaria Isidoro with my girlfriend, after walking around near Colosseum, we were tired so it felt like finally a good stop. I had carbonara, it was rich creamy, maybe a bit too salty or maybe it was just the pecorino too strong but anyway I liked it, filling enough, not heavy, I kept mixing it because pasta was sticking a bit. She got pizza, thin crust hot from oven, cheese and tomato just right, nothing fancy but tasted real good.

Inside atmosphere cozy rustic, people talking loud, laughing, I lost track of our own talk sometimes but that’s okay, felt more local than touristic. Service was kind of slow at start or maybe just me being hungry, but then waiter explained some dishes, friendly guy, shirt a bit wrinkled but whatever, didn’t rush us. Prices not cheap, close to attractions so I guess normal, I keep saying it was fair enough even if I’m not 100% sure. We left happy, thinking maybe we come back, or maybe not, depends how...

We not only enjoy coming here every year, but we make it a scheduled lunch or dinner. I like coming here especially for lunch because it's not too far of a walk from the Forum or the Coliseum. During warmer weather they have an outdoor seating area and there's almost always a place to sit without reservations. If it's say in March and they're outside, seating isn't open or it's going to be a little cold for you. Sometimes it's good to make a lunch reservation and if it's in the busy season, I definitely suggest a reservation for dinner. The prices are very nice for Rome. The food is not at all touristy and the staff is very nice. Be adventures on the menu, and definitely have one of the specials!

We’ve been in Italy for nearly 2 weeks, and on our last night we came across this hidden gem in Rome. It’s slightly further away compared to the other restaurants near the colosseum but it was absolutely delicious and definitely worth the extra 2mins walk from nearby restaurants. We were after some dishes that were not on the menu, but the manager/owner nicely checked with the kitchen a few times to see what they can do to accommodate, and provided us with best tasting pasta and salad we have had in a long time. And the dishes were all fairly priced too! We will definitely come back again next time we drop by this lovely city! Thank you for the memories!
