Il Pappagallo — Restaurant in Rome

First off, I have no clue why people praise the business and are very stingy with the stars. I’m a tourist, not a local, however; been to various bar/cafeterias in and around Rome….this particular establishment deserves its 5 stars. The coffee was great!! They offer gelato, and the pastries are very good!! I was picking out this and that and walked away with 30€ worth of pastries, and the lady attending me was very patient and sweet. It was heavily trafficked and bustling during that time and she still was very patient with a smile on her face. The older gentleman at the cashier was stoically Roman…not rude. I had a pleasant time with good service, very good coffee/pastries and above all the people were nice. This is definitely a locals place! It’s close to St. Peter’s basilica square. A few tables inside and plentiful seating outside for sure. Will be back again for sure. Highly...

This place was an absolute SCAM. I went in to buy my wife a Gelato. A large is 3.50 Euro on a cone 3 flavors. Girl asks us if we will eat there or not. I was like ok we can eat here although we needed to head off to a restaurant. They bring the 3 flavors in a BOWL all stirred up together and it's just MUSH. You can't tell 1 flavor from another. Where is the cone? They bring us a bill for 10.50 Euro for this garbage!!! I go nuts this is RIDICULOUS!!! SO APPARENTLY I got scammed by saying we can eat there I lost my cone and they want to charge 3.50 Euro per person for a dine in fee on a FREAKING ICE CREAM! ARRRRGHHHH!!!!! I HATE ITALY AND THEIR BOGUS SCAMS!!!!! They said they would hand me a cone to go but...

i came to the gelato section of the store whenever possible in my trip to rome. the staff are so nice and fun and they told us about the ins and outs of the city. they were really great and communicated really well in english. they let us try different gelatos and suggested different flavours and combinations. it was very affordable and extremely delicious. there were so many different flavour options and the store was so cute. il pappagallo is on my list to return to if i ever come back to rome.
