Osteria A Piedi Pari — Restaurant in Rome

I've lived in Rome for a year now and I come here about once a month, even though I live an hour away. Why? Because when it comes to Roman pasta (especially the Gricia!), you won't find better in the entire city. At least I never have and it's not for lack for trying.

It's a lovingly run, little family trattoria with jovial service and high quality food. The crowd is a colourful mix of students, a variety of locas and the occasional international - be it a student or a rare tourist. Fun fact is that the name means 'On Equal Footing' and that's very much the sentiment that defines the ambiance of A Piedi Pari. Everyone is welcome and even though they probably could raise them, the prices remain incredibly reasonable.

I always present myself as Giuseppe when I call because it IS a bit more of a fun and interesting experience there if you speak a bit of Italian but it is by no means required. You'll miss out on the banter and funny stories if you don't but the food remains. Every time I go, my Italian has improved a little which means that every time, so does my experience.

Oh and the Tiramisu is...

This place is a hidden Gem off the beaten path! Very old fashioned style family restaurant with a great variety of traditional dishes. They do not speak much English here, so make sure to practice your Italia or have Google translate ready, lol. They did have an English menu on a QR code if needed. I was excited to try the Tripe Antipasti, more than enough food for 2 people as a main dish. Great cuts of the different prosciutto and fresh mozzarella ball. The tripe in Beans and Tripe in Red sauce is some of the best I've had in a long time. The Tendon was also delicious soaked in lemon juices. The Tiramisu was by far THE best I've had on my entire 2 week trip in Italy, and I honestly have had more than a dozen of them, haha. I cleaned the bowl out! Definitely worth a try in this...

La mia recensione si basa esclusivamente sulla mia esperienza personale presso l'Osteria A Piedi Pari, avvenuta il 01 Ottobre durante un pranzo in tre persone.

SERVIZIO: All'arrivo, siamo stati accolti da una signora che ci ha accompagnato al tavolo. Dopo un breve periodo di attesa, abbiamo ordinato, avendo già preparato la nostra comanda in anticipo per agevolare il servizio. La scelta è stata di due antipasti, due primi e un secondo per me. Il cameriere ci ha chiesto se desiderassimo ricevere tutti i piatti contemporaneamente, a cui abbiamo acconsentito. Questa decisione è stata presa per evitare che chi aveva ordinato primi o secondi dovesse aspettare più del dovuto.

Tuttavia, nonostante l'arrivo dell'acqua e del vino sia stato tempestivo, il cibo ha impiegato un tempo considerevole ad essere servito. Dopo un'ora di attesa, né gli antipasti né il pane sono stati ancora portati in tavola. Era evidente che la cucina stesse affrontando delle difficoltà, poiché altri tavoli stavano aspettando da tempo.

Dopo sollecitazioni da parte nostra, finalmente tutto è arrivato insieme: un misto di fritti, una selezione di bruschette, i primi piatti e i contorni. Tuttavia, il secondo piatto che avevo ordinato non è mai comparso. Mentre gli altri commensali iniziavano a mangiare, io sono rimasto a punzecchiare qua e là tra i piatti. Nel frattempo, coloro che avevano optato per primi piatti avevano già finito di mangiare, mentre il mio secondo piatto tardava ad arrivare.

Ho deciso quindi di rivolgermi alla signora che ci aveva accompagnato al tavolo (presumibilmente una delle proprietarie) per chiedere spiegazioni riguardo alla lunga attesa per il mio secondo piatto. Ho fatto notare che tutti gli altri avevano già terminato il loro pasto. A questo punto è intervenuto un altro cameriere (presumibilmente l'altro proprietario) il quale ha affermato che non avevo mai effettivamente ordinato quel piatto.

In conclusione, pur avendo pagato il conto senza problemi, devo ammettere che l'esperienza complessiva non è stata soddisfacente e non mi sentirei di...
