Definitely a tourist trap and should have seen rating in advance. My boyfriend and I ordered frittura mista appetizer, calamari, shrimp and prawn scampi, penne with spicy tomato sauce and then the lamb with mixed vegetables. There were several alarms with our meal . We had arancini come out (vey bland and tasteless) with the calamari and I could see the waiter and hear the waiter say that wasn't the app we ordered after someone else delivered it and walked away. When he came back a few minutes later, I asked about the rest of our app (there were like 3 other things that were supposed to come out) and he said "oh, we bring it out one at a time, don't worry." Then the rest of our food appeared a few mins later, no zucchini flowers and a repeat of the app already brought out. I asked the waiter where the zucchini flowers were and he says oh we are completely out of them, as if it should have been common knowledge. Part of the reason I wanted this app WAS BECAUSE OF THE FREAKING ZUCCHINI FLOWERS. But ok, cue in the wine. We ordered the house wine for 20 euros a liter and when we tried it we noticed it tasted watered down (it was in a jug). I literally drank 5 or 6 glasses of wine and felt NOTHING at the end of my meal (especially with how little of my meal I ate). The calamari was extremely rubbery and chewy, definitely not like other calamari I've had in Italy. My boyfriend had no issues with his penne pasta. Then comes the next course, my prawn and shrimp scampi and his lamb. I take a few bites and realize it was extremely bland gritty somehow and I can't fathom eating it further. I have never sent a plate back but I couldn't eat it anymore. Waiter senses I'm not pleased and says I can substitute something else for same price. Nothing looks appealing really after being disappointed by app and I decide to play it safe and order s pizza. It had prosciutto, salami, and ham. The pizza was alright but good God, the prosciutto was difficult to chew. Also, boyfriend's lamb was unseasoned and way overcooked that it was almost gray. We spent two weeks in Italy before this meal and can honestly say it was the worst. When the check came I was charged for the scampi still (6euro difference from pizza) but he said because he didn't charge me the coperto (cover) and because he gave us another carafe of the watered down wine and two shots of limoncello (again, watered down), that the difference makes up for it. The pizza was alright and that's the only reason I'm...
Read moreFound this restaurant while wandering around the area, really wanted an outside table place (none set up outside) but very persuasive and friendly enough guy outside tempted is in with 'free prosecco' and promises galore. Should have set the alarm ringing when the 'free prosecco' was a thimble full haha. So ordered two beers, these were immense, far more than anyone wanted with dinner, and a price to go with them (€12!), but then this became the theme. We ordered food but were driven onto their variations instead of just giving us what we asked for. Our friends wanted pasta, "would we like seafood pasta" so, yes, they went for that.... Out EVENTUALLY comes a massive platter of whole seabass x 2, prawns, all sorts of other seafood, with a little pasta in the middle, priced at €60, OBVIOUSLY not what had been requested! Ours then came, my pizza was simple enough, but the other meal again bore no relevance to the order, again their 'suggestion' I think, instead of just listening. This we sent back and they brought out what we'd requested in the first place. They weren't especially rude but certainly no sympathy to their pushy 'selling up' of their menu and certainly didn't feel friendly after the first ten minutes. Of course we should have sent it all back but you feel so awkward and of course really just want a meal, so you try to make the best of it. But definitely will be one lasting bad memory of an otherwise great long weekend in Rome. Just avoid this unprofessional, unfriendly place, until they perhaps learn that proper customer service, as well as great food, is what normal folk want. There's loads of other restaurants available and every one we went to otherwise was 100%...
Read moreThis restaurant is notably busy, so making a reservation is highly recommended. The food is exceptional, and the staff are delightful. Although we didn’t have a reservation, we arrived around 7 PM and were informed that a table was reserved for 8 PM. The staff inquired if we could finish our meal before then, and upon our agreement, they promptly seated us. This flexible and accommodating approach was highly efficient.
The calamari was served hot and crispy, cooked to perfection with a tender texture. The vongole pasta was al dente, harmoniously blending olive oil and clams. The sautéed mussels featured a white wine-based sauce that masterfully balanced acidity, richness, saltiness, and a hint of sweetness, enhancing the overall flavor.
The owner, an elderly gentleman, showed great affection towards the children, creating a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere that made our dining experience even...
