I got the Spaghetti alla Carbonara here, and it was incredibly good First of all, props for giving me the option to make it without bacon. not all places allowed for that
The pasta itself was unbelievably good - this is the carbonara I was looking for when I came to Italy Starting with the noodles itself - they were really fresh, soft, perfectly cooked, and were so easy to eat. The entire dish was certainly quite buttery and oily, but not excessively so. It retained all the benefits of the flavor imparted by that fat but it didn't overwhelm the noodles.
I was also impressed by the fact that this dish contained some cheese, but in no way did it feel cheesy, which was amazing. The previous pasta I had in Rome was filled with cheese, so the fact that I could taste only a hint of the cheese was really nice
By far the best part of the dish was the eggs. If I have to say one thing that completely took over the flavor here - this was it. The egg yolk was ever-present and quite strong throughout the sauce, and I completely loved it. It made each bite taste wonderful. Also, the pasta was perfectly warm without being overly hot.
I have to say this is one of, if not the, the best tasting pasta I've had in my life. While not the absolute best quality - the combination of egg yolk, butter, cheese, oil, and perfectly cooked noodles is something I was not expecting and am so glad that I experienced. I doubt I'll have carbonara this good ever again.
Overall, an unbelievably good...

This place is a crime against Italian food. Firstly, they seated us at an outdoor table that still had the dirty glasses and coffee cups from the previous customers. Food was terrible, arrived suspiciously fast, very likely microwaved, carbonara was watery and cold, the pizza bases tasted pre-made and the tomato sauce canned. The salads had no dressing, and the chicken in one of them was practically inedible. Waiter came over to ask us how the food was but walked away before we could respond. At the end we asked for the bill and they had already put a 10% service charge on it. We went inside to pay and told the cashier nicely we wanted to remove the service charge as we didn’t enjoy the food, he responded by questioning why we didn’t like it and that we were the only ones complaining and that everyone else liked it. It went on for a while but eventually they allowed us to pay without the service however wouldn’t let us pay by card anymore, only cash. Upon reading other reviews on here for this restaurant, it seems they only accept cash, and what’s more the card machine they showed us wasn’t even turned on, so likely they were going to try and make us pay with cash anyway.
Definitely just a huge tourist scam, avoid at all costs. Even the pigeons that flew in walked straight back out, says...
Read moreWent to get a nice italian experience after visiting the Vatican museum - mistake. One of us wanted a creamy pasta, the waiter said that the mussel pasta has white cream, but it had zero cream and the tiniest mussels, it was practically just boiled spaghetti. Then she ordered pasta carbonara to get a creamy pasta, didnt give up - the carbonara egg sauce was clumped and just tasted like a primary school's kitchen lady had made it. We also ordered bruschetta with anchovies for 4.50€ and they just brought one, pretty hard bruschetta, not fluffy or juicy at all.. and to top it off, they forgot to bring water, but charged us for it anyway. At least the wine was good and the waiter wasn't actually rude or anything, he seemed kind. Just a bit clueless and our itanian experience was below anything. Don't want to be mean, but the chef should...
