Total scam and horrible food. They lure you in with those flyers for 3-4 courses of food for $10-13 euros per person, but when you get there, they pretend not to speak English very well and force u to order from regular menu and prices. When u stand your ground to get the advertised option, the waiter becomes rude and takes forever to bring food and only allows you to get water (not any other soft drink). This was the most awful carbonara in my life. It tasted like that Mac and cheese from the cup you get for $1. The pizza tasted like a microwaved one. They took 25 minutes to bring desert and gave me attitude when I asked why it takes so long (since you don't have to cook it). You have been warned. Avoid at all costs. P.S. I "love" the owner reply, made it sound I'm some kind of spoiled tourist who demands too much 😅 bottom line is, waiters do speak great English but when you pull out the flyer (and they understand it ls less money), they suddenly "forget" it and start speaking only italian and pointing on menu for u to order more expensive food (however i can clear hear them speak english to other customers...lol cought in action). They completely ignore you throughout the whole course and you have to waive them and ask when is the next food is coming. It was mid week so they were not busy at all. Barely 50% full , I'm sure they just wanted us just to leave faster and not serve the desert, because they didn't make extra money on us. Probably the worst customer service in...
Read moreOur experience at Trattoria Pizzeria Gli Archi was, to put it mildly, quite disappointing. After a long day of walking and exploring the Vatican, we found this place, hoping for a good meal. Unfortunately, from the very beginning, we received bare-minimum help from the staff. When we requested assistance to find suitable options on the confusing menu, specifying that we couldn't consume beef or pork, no one in the staff stayed with us for more than 3-4 seconds, even though the restaurant at that time had only a few customers. This lack of guidance resulted in some poor choices. We ordered a lamb dish that was arguably the driest and had the least amount of meat on the bone of any lamb I've ever had in my life. It was a huge letdown. We also tried a four-cheese pizza, which was equally disappointing and made me question how it ever earned a spot on the menu. The only dish that was even remotely acceptable was the shrimp pasta, and even that was just "okay"—nothing to brag about. To add to the frustration, a tiny glass of orange juice was a shocking €6, which felt like a complete rip-off.
Overall, it was an extremely disappointing and overpriced experience that left us feeling like we'd wasted both our time...
Read moreI could eat here every day and I would love it. The selection of quick tasty Roman pasta dishes is great. They give you cold water (which isn’t extremely common) on hot days. The food comes out quickly, the prices are fair if not exceptional for the area and the staff is playful and fun to experience.
In our group of 6 we tried several pastas- the pesto pistachio pasta is the one pictured- and several pizzas. The sausage mushroom is my favorite (can you tell I’m American).
But the best part about this restaurant is it’s about a 3 min walk from the Vatican museum and it is out of the popular touristy restaurants so you aren’t paying 15€ for carbonara. We also travel with a stroller pretty frequently and they make the space so we can keep it by the table and really just love our kids which I love.
They do have nice bathrooms that I was comfortable taking my kids into! Like really you guys- the server saw me taking a picture of the menu and smiled! They are genuinely...
