I didn't think it was possible to have a bad meal in Italy. I was wrong... We were enticed in for the set menu by the super lovely man outside - he talked such a good story I was salivating before we got in. What was presented on the board outside was about twice as much as was actually available when presented with the menu. The wine was cheap and vile. Do not take the wine! The 1st course pasta dishes were huge and actually okay, if underseasoned. No offer of fresh pepper (or any pepper), and no parmesan either. We're in Itally!! My husband was still eating his pile of penne when the 2nd course was plonked on the table beside his plate. Chicken with salad... correction, chicken with a garnish of washed, plain, chopped lettuce. No dressing, just old cut lettuce. We'd actually ordered his with potatoes. Lady owner serving us never even came back to clear his main-sized starter plate. I ordered the cheese and salad as 2nd, again a handful of cut lettuce with what look like a piece of squashed fried haloumi. The desert was actually dumped on the table so fast that the owners back (we can only assume it was the owner) was turned while I was mid "Thank y-". The panna cotta was okay, despite the presentation being in a metal ramekin. I would not recommend this place at all. We only came in because of the lovely man on the door (owner as well we presumed), and when we left and he asked how it was, I gave him our honest feedback as he seemed to be the only one who actually had any...
Read moreThis is what I was served today. I paid 24€ for that.
Cannot recommend this place, not for food nor service.
We had a late pasta dinner from the daily menu, a creamy fish sauce, why would it be brown? It seemed like they ran out of sauce by the time they made my dish, because it was mostly just sauce with some pasta.
I tried to eat it but gave up not even halfway, it was so bad it was difficult to swallow. I told the waitress the sauce is basically out of date and I'm unable to eat it. She asked if they can bring something else and I said maybe bring a little of the cheese pasta that the table next to us was having. They brought what seemed like a full portion, and I ate what I could.
The bill was a surprise: they were charging both dishes. Seems like a very poor way to handle a situation where you bring a customer a badly prepared dish, and after specifically asking the customer if they can bring something else, they charge both. They agreed to charge a few euros less for the second, cheaper dish, but still charged the full price for the bad...
Read moreThere was a prix fix menue at the entrance to the restaurant for 12.50 Euro. I asked the waiter for that. He gave me the menu and pointed to the table with several vegetable dishes. I had 1 small plate of that and a glass of red wine (which was included in prix fix menue). When I went upfront to pay the old guy (not my waiter) with bold head with bumps, moles and other deformities - said that I owed 16 Euros. Turns out just because I took the menue in my hands - I didn't even look into it - disqualified me from prix fix deal. I did not agree with that and the old guy argued and yelled, then took 50 Euro bill FROM MY HAND, gave me change for 16 Euros and all but pushed me out of the restaurant. I would say it was horrible, but it was pretty much criminal. I felt taken advantage of and it spoiled the whole rest of my day. Tourists bring a lot of money to Rome, is it fair to treat them (or anybody for that matter) like that? Avoid this place! As far as food quality, the vegetable fare was OK, but the wine was bad, had bubbles in it and pretty...
