Love checking out Vietnamese restaurants when travelling abroad, for comfort food of course. Was disappointed there was no vegetarian pho option in their vegetarian menu section, and the chicken pho was offered in beef broth (not uncommon since pho was traditionally served in beef). Overall, food dishes were well presented and well portioned but tasted alright. The tofu tasted funny, like sourness to it (I would consider prepping the tofu differently for more infused flavour that might help preserve the tofu). The place was very busy and vibrant, and cycled through guests frequently. Amazing ambience and comfy seats - a decadent look and feel for sure. Love their digital menu and ordering by scanning the code at the table that recognized the table #. Staff were professional and patient but sometimes hard to find at the table area. So yeah, give it a try when in Rome (~5-10 mins from Rome Railway Stn). I hope they have evolved their vegetarian menu choices and perhaps offer chicken broth for chicken pho by then!

We had about an hour and a half before our next train, which in travel time equals: just enough to panic-eat something nearby. Luckily, this place was only a six minute walk from the station. Pro tip: when you see a bunch of Asian customers eating at an Asian restaurant, you don’t even check Google reviews. You just sit down. Also, shoutout to the free Wi-Fi and air conditioning, because that basically made it feel like business class dining. We ordered the Bun Cha Obama (yes, that’s really the name) and a shrimp salad. The food showed up in under 15 minutes, faster than I can unlock my suitcase combination. And it was so good. Honestly, Obama himself would probably stop by and give it a presidential nod of approval. Their lychee tea was out of this world. This spot is officially on our “last meal before going home” list in two weeks. If you’re catching a train and want to feel like a smart traveler instead of someone eating soggy station sandwiches, this is the move.

There are three major issues with the pho. First, the broth was on the salty side, which is not typical for Pho. We had to dilute it with warm water. Second, the meatballs lacked the beef flavor of black pepper and did not have tendons, which usually provide a crunchy texture and flavor from the black pepper. Third, the noodles were undercooked (al dente). I would recommend that the noodles be cooked thoroughly, rather than al dente like regular pasta by default, since this is a traditional Vietnamese dish and not an Italian one. Instead, the restaurant could offer patrons the option of al dente noodles if they prefer a crunchy texture. The service and atmosphere were good, and the herbs and bean sprouts were fresh. Overall, I rated this pho a 7.5/10 for being in Rome.

Horrible service!! Food does not taste authentic! I understand I’m in another country so staff’s English could be very limited. I pointed at the photo of each item I wanted and repeated numerous times the number of each item I wanted and she said she understands. I asked if bean sprouts are included as I’m from Canada and it’s standard in Canada, she said yes. Our food for a group of 7 all came at different times and I kept repeating “is this #8?” “Is this #7?” And she would say yes and then at the end she realized she ordered the wrong amount and gave the wrong dishes to each person. She also brought the bean sprouts but never told us there is a charge. They should acknowledge they don’t understand me if they don’t know what I’m saying instead of agreeing. Where I’m from in Canada there are countless Vietnamese pho places everywhere and this does not measure up. Their attitude & service needs working on. I would...
