Ruined our evening by the food and the service. I booked online and was seated by an old man. He brought a basket of cold bread with menus. When asked, he said it's €2 per person, arguably saying it's not the US that's how the restaurants serve here. I was embarrassed by charging such a high price on the part I never asked, but it wasn't unbearable.
I did not ask, but again, he recommended the fish menu called "catch of the day", even brought a plate with raw fishes to show me. It was €8 per 100g on the menu, and he suggested 500g for €40. As we were going to order truffle rissotto for two as minimum, I wanted to give up. Then he suggested fillet for €25. I took it.
The food was amazing, under the potato chips there was about 7cm of thin seabass tail without any sauce cooked together to be a special recommendation. I couldn't help not complaining, then he insisted it's 200g, which means the potato chips are €9 to make €25, even if his 200g is true. I said it's even less than for one person. Then he left us, that was all.
So upset by such a manner I called another waiter and asked who the owner/manager was. He said the owner isn't here, and they are only working. I explained again then that old guy, being upset by himself, started to talk loudly to him in Italian. As I asked what he said, the new waiter said he said I agreed to the price when ordering. I said I expected reasonable dish for one person, not like this. He said he will sort it out, so continue dining.
Next was truffle rissotto in two plates. Basically, it was too salty, and rice was not cooked enough. I expected the truffle decoration on top, but it was all mixed, so I couldn't experience its texture. I sorted out some mushrooms and asked to that young waiter which one is truffle, genuinely to know what it is. He couldn't answer, however, and called that old man, who said "it's all mixed," then left. I couldn't bear any more, pretty sure that I was ripped off. I called them again. "I sorted out all sorts of mushrooms, so which one is truffle among these?". Then he said, "Don't shout in my house it's not yours". I got blank, whether he is a real owner or not, as well as where such response comes from. Then he took all the plates and said to go out as not charging. We did so. I don't think it was just emotion, he really did not have the right...
Read moreI decided to check out this restaurant based on the high reviews on multiple spots. I made a reservation for 2 on thefork, assuming they would be busy, and headed over. When we arrived, we had to wait for a table, despite there being multiple open tables. Once seated, my sister and I were handed menus. We ordered and were talked up to order fresh pasta. We assumed this would be better and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing. However, the service was terrible. Once we had our menus, we were ignored until the two servers stopped arguing in front of all the guests. Two other groups came in after us and were fawned over by the servers (fish and lobsters brought out, wine samples, etc.). In the middle of the meal, we were asked to move tables to make room for a larger group that was outside perusing the menu. We moved because we felt like we didn't have a choice as the servers began moving tables and grabbing our plates and wine. The table they moved us to was covered in silverware, wine bottles, and a cheese platter (that may have been from another table). They didn't take the time to clean the table before they asked to move us or moved our food on to the table. They cleaned most of the stuff off our table and then proceeded to give their attention to the other table while we uncomfortably tried to finish our food and wine. We hadn't yet finished when one of the servers was outside talking to a couple looking at the menu, asking how long the wait might be. He looked over his shoulder at our table and said it'd only be a few minutes. I still hadn't finished my wine. I have never felt so embarrassed in my whole life. When they came and cleared our plates, they asked in passing, half-heartedly, if we wanted dessert. We said yes, because we had planned on ordering it already. Once we finished the dessert, the brought us the check immediately. It was the first time a restaurant in Italy has brought me a check without my asking. They handled our payment and we felt the pressure to leave. We did, because it was clear we were not welcome anymore. The food was great, but the atmosphere and the service was not welcoming at all. I would not recommend this...
Read moreWorst meal in Rome! We searched on Google map for restaurant for a family dinner and got this restaurant with a 4.8 rating. We had high expectations but it turns out to be the worst dinner experience I've ever had. I ordered Pasta Carbonara, my husband Pasta Amatriciana, my father Pasta Bolognese and my mother Pasta with fish of the day. I got my Carbonara first. I was shocked at the first sight, because it looks like a pile of Spaghetti swimming in a pool of cream. It tastes even worse: too salty and not fresh at all. I waited for a couple of minutes, but other dishes we ordered didn't seem to come. So I have to start eating alone. It turns out to be totally wise because other dishes didn't come until more than ten minutes after my empty dish is taken away. The owner of the restaurant didn't apologize at all. The Amatriciana and the Bolognese are absolutely awful: way too salty for my husband to finish and my father had to put some sauce on the bread to finish. The pasta with fish of the day is instead too bland and the mussels don't taste very fresh. We complained to the owner after paying the bill, but he behaved very arrogantly. He was not willing to understand the complaint and finally apologized for only the slow service with everything but sincerity. I seriously have no clue how this restaurant could get so good reviews. In general, I would totally recommend NOT to go to this...
