SOFIA PIZZA NAPOLETANA — Restaurant in Rome

Our first time visiting Italy, and our very first meal on our very first night and it left a terrible impression. I'm genuinely shocked how there are 5 star reviews here.

We ordered the Parmigiana and the Napoli pizza's as well as two Suppli's, one Pomodoro and one Nduja. I'm not sure why or there was a miscommunication, but we got two Pomodoro instead.

The pizza's were so wet it was impossible to pick up a slice. Literally when you cut into it it's like a crepe, just a soggy mess with a pool of oil/sauce in the middle. The other review from 5 days before said it correct, it was more akin to Crepe than Pizza.

It was a very disappointing first meal in Rome and kinda ruined the first night of our vacation as we had very high expectations given the positive reviews and, you know, being in Italy for pizza.

Please beware before coming here. This is not a pizza I would...

We hopped off a bus right in front of this place. It was open, but empty inside. Every table was open. When we walked in, we were greeted by a gentleman and asked if we had reservations. We did not. He reluctantly seated us and immediately asked if we were ready to order. I understand eating in Italy is different from the United States. We tried to order A pizza for me, my wife and our 8 year old son. Nope. He told us we needed to order two pizzas because one pizza is for one person. Keep in mind, they are 14 inch pizzas. Ok, fine. We order two and wait. Sixteen other people came in, ordered, and got their pizzas before us. He said the cooks made a mistake. Food was ok....

We landed here today in Rome and we’re wandering around. A pizza making chef recommended that we stop by Sofia for pizza today. Which obviously we took it very seriously as he’s a pizza chef. We came over and I’m honestly blown away by the pizza dough and flavor. The dough is so fluffy!!!! I know this sounds crazy but if you smash on it it bounces back up like a coil. Super fluffy and delicious. I normally never eat the crust and I eat every last bit. The sauce and cheese and the ingredients were super fresh and delicious. The weed staff was very pleasant and the seating outside had a beautiful view. I would definitely recommend...
