Song — Restaurant in Rome

Inauthentic, overpriced, wanna-be Chinese food. I’m a Chinese Canadian visiting Rome and I was looking for a restaurant with Chinese food just for some comfort. I was looking at the menu and the prices and wow my brother and I had a good laugh. These dishes do not make sense and I understand that the food is “elevated”, but the ingredients should still be authentic if they’re going to advertise themselves as Chinese food. The noodle dish had 3 bokchoys on it placed in a single file row….. you will never ever see that at a real high-end Chinese restaurant, they are never stingy with vegetables. And you’re paying over €15 for a less than mediocre dimsum dish?? That is absolutely crazy. If you’re looking for real high end Chinese food or Chinese food at all, don’t come here. But if you’re just looking for an expensive restaurant to satisfy your American Chinese takeout cravings,...

Awful. Very rare that I write an unpleasant review but this was horrid. My son and I live in Prati and we had been dying to try this place - it was beyond disappointing. The actual restaurant was pleasant but apart from our lovely Indian server the staff were rude, and unhelpful. Going out to a restaurant should be a pleasant experience - the atmosphere, waiting staff and above all the quality of the food and wine. It was awful in all respects and expensive too ! I asked for a glass of white wine - warm and obviously open for some time - undrinkable . The peking duck was appalling, it certainly wasn’t up to shredding - it was gummy and tasteless . The pancakes were thick. Not a chilli in sight ! We asked for soy sauce the waitress said “ we have some, but we don’t recommend it !” . It should have been a post exam treat and all I can say is that I am so sorry we didn’t...

Sono cliente di Okasan da anni, domenica 31/07/22 decido di provare Song. Location carina, interiors molto curati, direttore in gamba, personale di sala cortese ma forse inadatto all’immagine che il locale vuol dare di sé (sarei davvero curiosa di sapere cos’ha bisbigliato la giovane cameriera asiatica al suo giovane collega quando sono andata in cassa, con tanto di sguardi diretti a me e sorrisini, e ho sentito distintamente un “no, non ti ha sentito dai, comunque hai ragione” - spoiler: non ho sentito dettagliatamente, ma ho capito si parlasse di me).

Il menu è ricco, vasta scelta, interessante anche la proposta degustazione, la cucina in sé è ottima, i ravioli mi hanno molto sorpresa (l’anatra alla pechinese invece mi ha delusa, ma il giudizio deriva da gusti personali, non dalla preparazione del piatto), mi sono trovata bene al punto che alle 00:08 rientrando a casa scrivo via whatsapp ad uno dei veterani gestori di Okasan e mi complimento anche per la qualità di quest’altro ristorante.

Peccato che alle 2:00 am inizio a stare malissimo con fitte allo stomaco estremamente forti e diarrea. È passata una settimana, la diarrea non passa. Il mio compagno non ha avvertito sintomi, ma c’è da dire che rispetto a me non ha mangiato alcune tipologie di ravioli (io ho mangiato quelli con funghi e tartufo e quelli col ragout d’anatra - ho letto attentamente gli ingredienti segnalati e nulla avrebbe dovuto darmi problemi, erano alimenti che avevo già consumato in passato). Intossicazione? Mai successo qualcosa di simile in vita mia e mai successo qualcosa di simile in altri ristoranti. Sto andando avanti a Normix e tanti liquidi su consiglio medico, se dovesse continuare dovrò recarmi da uno specialista. Ha tutta l’aria di essere una brutta gastroenterite, chissà però causata da cosa.

Il locale comunque merita una visita e mi sento di consigliarlo, anche se io personalmente non me la sento di tornarci in futuro per stra-ovvi motivi :)
