We went to Trastevere neighborhood on a Thursday evening, around sunset, at the end of August 2016. This was our second day in Rome (and first time in Italy) and we didn't know any restaurants, especially in this fledgling neighborhood of Rome. This restaurant seems to cater mostly to locals, as its location seems to be on the outskirts of Trestavere that probably most tourists wouldn't know about, or would find themselves in. It's not an area with many bars or much activity around, despite its being only some 5-10 mins walk from the main areas of the neighborhood. Since we were very hungry and didn't feel like looking for places in the main areas, we went in. And I'm glad we did. The waiter was a sophisticated man, seemingly in his 60's, with decent English. The food was simply excellent. The white bread was absolutely delicious, and the seabream I ordered was one of the best fish I have had in a while. The prices were reasonable and I actually felt that the meal should have cost more, given the service and the excellent food served. All in all, do yourself a favor and go here to eat before going to more fun and cool areas of Trastevere just a few blocks...
Read moreTldr: excellent coffee and house wine, PENNE ALL ARRABBIATA - excellent red pasta, decent cachio e pipe pasta, chewy pizza, lousy four seasons pizza. We stopped in this place after Enzo restaurant had a huge queue, and sat down. The waiters were nice, but I think we agitated her with a request for iced coffee, but she was nice enough to make us one even though it was after noon and she didn't know how to make one, so I explained. We asked for the Four Seasons pizza without the ham, but for some reason got only one slice of artichoke on the artichoke quarter, and five olives huddled together on the tip of the other quarter, and when I complained about it, they tried to make excuses that we were many diners, which was nonsense and I told her that even if I were dining alone this was absurd, but to no avail since the other waiter also basically told us it is what it is. Also, the pizza was chewy, that is, hard to chew a bit. The cachio e Pepe pasta lacked salt but was decent. The PENNE ALL ARRABBIATA red pasta was excellent so no complaints here! The house wine suggestion...
Read moreIt’s cute, the food is alright, but the service is poor.
This review is only for our experience as all the tables around us received far superior service.
It’s a cute place, we went around lunch time, there was no one there, sat down, ordered a litre of white wine (€11) which arrived swiftly. Then we waited for 2 spaghetti carbonara’s.
The tables around us slowly filled and after half the wine we realised everyone else was eating. We asked for the food and were told it was coming, and after 53 minutes we finally ate.
It was ok, we were a bit tipsy and the food was alright.
If the staff had been a bit more accepting they had made a mistake it would have been better but they tried to say the chef had made the wrong pasta and had to remake it. The fact is they forgot to put out order in the kitchen and the tried to cover it up.
It is what it is, everyone around us had good service. We were just unlucky and now there is a 2 star review...
