I started with the pasta pomodoro, and let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and the tomato sauce was fresh, vibrant, and full of flavor. My husband opted for the tonno pizza, which he thoroughly enjoyed as well. The pizza was tasty, with a crispy crust and a good balance of tuna and toppings.

For an appetizer, we shared the bruschetta. It was decent, nothing to rave about, but still a nice start to the meal.

However, we faced some timing issues. My husband received his pizza first, and we had to wait about 10 minutes before I got my pasta. This wouldn't have been a huge deal if the appetizer had been served at the same time, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. The bruschetta came after the pizza and the pasta, even though starters should really be the first thing brought to the table. To make matters worse, my husband’s pizza had already cooled down by the time my pasta arrived, which kind of took away from the enjoyment of the meal.

We also ordered non-alcoholic drinks and asked the server about the ingredients. Unfortunately, there was some confusion there as well. Initially, the waiter seemed unsure of the ingredients in the drinks. After some time, he told us that we could choose between orange or strawberry and that it would be mixed with something like Sprite. We chose orange and strawberry, but instead of receiving the expected sparkling mix, we were given just juice. It wasn’t a huge issue, but it was a bit of a letdown given the miscommunication.

All in all, the food was delicious, but the service and timing could have been much better. A bit more attention to detail and a smoother coordination between the kitchen and staff could have made this experience...

Amazing food, lovely and friendly staff and great atmosphere, the only thing ruined it was one of the drinks but that was sorted out! Other then a ambulance going past with sirons going it was really peaceful sit at the restaurant not too far from a main road, would highly recommend and will likely be back before we go home!

edit We went back to this place a few days later as we knew we liked the food and after a long day of adventuring we just wanted to go somewhere we knew we liked, however even though a few days earlier we had a really lovely meal and had high regards, tonight we felt like we wasn't really welcome due to a list of things; 1. Waiters basically staring at us whilst we eat, 2. Food coming out at completely different times which resulted in my partners food to begin going cold, then for my food to be given to another table before finally getting it, and finally me and my partner was interested in getting a dessert however the waiters never came over to ask if we wanted anything else and even though they was still letting people into the restaurant they was packing everything away so after 5-10 mins of no one coming to our table we requested the bill and was forced to go inside to pay the bill on card after seeing multiple people being able to pay at the table and whilst we paid our bill the waiters made rude comments about tips and expecting us to add a tip on top even after the bad experience, we would have been more then happy to pay a tip if we had the same experience as a few days prior but our experience tonight has made us not want to return to the restaurant even if the food was...

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Osteria Sonnino in Rome recently. The staff's behavior was shockingly rude and unprofessional. Despite my intention to order more drinks and continue, I was abruptly kicked out.

The service started off poorly with long waits and indifferent attitudes from the waitstaff. When I tried to order additional items, I was informed curtly that now its "dinner time" and that I needed to leave immediately - since drinks only are not acceptable. There was no attempt to accommodate my request or offer an alternative solution, even though i wanted to order more drinks.

This treatment was not only disrespectful but also completely unacceptable for any establishment claiming to offer hospitality. As a customer who was willing to spend more money, I was met with hostility instead of basic courtesy.

I strongly advise against dining at Osteria Sonnino. The experience was marred by the staff's utter lack of professionalism and customer service. There are far better dining options in Rome that actually value their clients and understand the meaning of hospitality.

Avoid this place if you expect even basic courtesy and respect...

Fantastic food, service & atmosphere. Outdoor tented seating with a nice vibes and beautiful ambiance. More space between tables than other restaurants in the area. Not in the heart of Trastevere so this would make for a good date night, as the noise level is moderate and tables are slightly distanced, again in comparison to other places I've been. They offer a good array of reasonably priced menu items, though I'm a Pescatarian and stuck to the seafood options only. I ordered the fried Calamari and Shrimp to start. It came out in short order and was hot, crispy and delicious. I also orderd the Salmon with orange and fennel salad recco'd by the server and it was light and absolutely delicious! The Salmon was fresh and cooked to perfection and the orange and fennel were a surprising complement. The portion matched the price. Overall very nice place! The staff is polite and attentive. I will certainly be dinning here again and I highly recommend!!!

This was hands-down our favorite restaurant in Rome. We actually went twice because it was that good! The place has that perfect, cozy vibe, and the staff is great. They really have that Italian charm. Super talkative and welcoming. The Food was Next Level. For appetizers, we shared the Bruschetta with zucchini and buffalo ricotta cheese and the Artichoke trio, which were perfect. The artichokes were spot-on.🤤 For the main dish I had the Bucatini all’Amatriciana (with guanciale from Amatrice) and I am still thinking about that dish to this day. It was one of the best pastas I’ve ever had. My dad had the Coda alla Vaccinara (oxtail), and the meat was incredibly tender and delicious. Every dish was an absolute winner. If you're looking for real, traditional Roman cooking with amazing ingredients, this is the place. They have many meat iptions as well. I hope I get to visit again soon! 10/10, would recommend to anyone visiting Rome.
