Dont go there!!! We (4 persons) went to this restaurant yesterday. From first sight it looked nice with around 8 tables on a public place. I checked the recommendations prior (it has 4,2 points on Maps) and we ordered. Well niceness changed fast as the first wave of urine stench entered the equation. It seemed that the area has not been thoroughly cleaned during the day. Well as we have ordered already we stuck it out. Then the waitress came putting dirty table cloths on the table, which was obviously used by another customer earlier. Well patient as we are we politely ignored that too. Drinks where not poured in a proper glass either but only put in the original containers on the table. I drank my beer from a water glass. Then the food came, but unfortunately the wrong one. 2 pizzas, we ordered 1 only. My son, not really remembering what he actually ordered, investigated both thoroughly. We mentioned that we ordered 1 pizza only, the waitress declined sourly telling we ordered 2. She turned around stampeeding back in the restaurant and came back with the menu. She soon noticed her own mistake and without apologizing she turned around and put one of the already heavily investigated pizzas on our neighbours table. That is hygiene as it should be 😉. Well the story did not end there. When I asked the waitress if I could get some parmesan she declined as it did not fit to my pasta dish. Actually quoting her, she said "No, not for you". Never experienced that in any restaurant at all. If I want to pour a bottle of Chianti over my pasta she should bring it with a smile. Not that I would ever do this, but you get my point. Being a persistent man I got my parmesan in the end anyway. First when I paid she put up a smile (still not apologizing for anything) expecting a tip. Well there came none ... "No, not for you!". By the way, the food itself was a 3 out of 10. If you want a restaurant experience of the different kind go there and order a small dish just for sucking up the extraterrestrial athmosphere. Dont expect though comimg home with a restaurant experience to...

If you're looking for excellent Italian cuisine, Papa Re in Rome should definitely be on your list of places to visit. The food here is exceptional, and I had the pleasure of trying their Pasta Carbonara Di Carciofi, which was absolutely delicious. The dish was perfectly cooked, and the combination of pasta, cheese, and artichokes was simply divine. I also had the chance to sample their house wine, which was of exquisite quality and perfectly complemented my meal.

However, while the food and drinks were top-notch, the service was a bit disappointing. I visited Papa Re in May 2022, and while I understand that this review may be outdated, I think it's important to mention that the service was lacking during my visit. The staff seemed a bit disorganized and rushed, which detracted from the overall dining experience. While this may have been an off-day for the restaurant, it's still worth mentioning for those who value attentive service.

Overall, I highly recommend Papa Re for its fantastic cuisine, especially the Pasta Carbonara Di Carciofi and their selection of wine. While the service may have been a bit disappointing during my visit, I believe that this restaurant is still worth a visit for anyone looking for exceptional Italian...

Really gotta say that I don’t understand the 4.4 rating my fellow reviewers have given this place. Had the caprese which was just a tomato sliced and mozzarella slices and then spread out. No balsamic or pepper or other elaborate presentation. One goes to a restaurant to get something not easily done at home and that caprese could be done by a six year old. The pasta dish was affordable but nothing to write home about. I’d recommend this place if the others in the area are full but I can’t recommend to anyone to go out of their way to eat here unless it is solely to save money. The prices were affordable but only 15 percent less than other places in Trastevere that are amazing. Service was good and staff friendly but the food was very average. I have had caprese at over a dozen places in Italy and this was the only one presented in this manner. Wish I would’ve taken a photo! The presentation of the pasta dish can help one imagine what I mean. Definitely not a place to avoid, just average and with Trastevere loaded with good eats hard to strongly...

We have traveled all over Italy from the northern reaches of Bolzano and stopping through towns from Venice, Tuscany, Sorrento, and now Rome. After a good recommendation from a local, this is the premier spot if you want a good portion size, and the best carbonara in this city. The onions complement the dish very well and are full of flavor! We wanted to try more! The Margherita and the Don Giovanni pizzas were absolute! Remember this is Roman style as opposed to Napoli style pies, so it has that undercarriage and crunch! I was mesmerized and could eat the Margherita pizza all day! Needles to say the plates were cleaned off. The 1/4 wine for 2 euro is deals and filled up two glasses. Additionally, with two waters, one being gas and the other naturale, the total bill ended up being 48 euro. Definitely will be returning. Last but not least, Loris and Maria were gracious hosts and made us feel all the more welcome! Anyone that says otherwise about this place, needs to check their palate! FYI, I added the onions from the Carbonara on to the Margherita
