Unfortunately our experience did not live up to those in the previous reviews. Having booked this hotel directly some months ago from Australia we were very excited to stay here for 4 nights. It has taken me some days to write this review as it was the disappointment in an otherwise amazing Europe trip. On arriving at 4pm in the afternoon with our two teen daughters we were advised that our booking had been cancelled because ‘you were not contactable - you gave us the wrong phone number (likely they did not dial Australian area code) and bank account did not work (??!)’. When I said I had an email and received confirmation of my booking I was also advised I had obviously given the wrong email!! We were then essentially blamed for what I can only believe was a systemic problem on their end - presumably they tried to contact us for confirmation, something which we have not had anywhere else nor was advised we needed to do if we wanted to maintain our booking. I would say that if there are concerns regarding no shows at this hotel then they need to ask for upfront payment or do online check in - as we have elsewhere. It is not appropriate to blame the customer or deny knowledge of an email address which they evidently had. The only other possible explanation was that we were staying over New Year’s Eve and they had decided they could sell the room at a better price - I would rather not believe that but I would say BE CAUTIOUS and if you want to stay here call, email, text and PAY before arriving. Or stay in one of the other wonderful hotels Rome has to offer as we (luckily)...
Read moreWe stayed at Residenza delle Arti for a weekend in November as part of our mini-honeymoon trip and we were so glad we booked to stay here and would definitely recommend it! Urszula and her two sons were the perfect hosts, they were so friendly and welcoming and really made our stay feel extra special and the welcome drink and snacks with rose petals on the bed was such a kind touch. ||The rooms are lovely and beautifully decorated, very clean and comfortable. Although be aware that you can sometimes hear a fair bit of noise from outside at night, but this was not a problem for us at all.||Breakfast is self-service and there are lots of options to choose from. You can choose what you want to eat/ drink and take it back to your room. Urszula was generally around in the mornings or contactable via WhatsApp to answer any questions we had and she also gave us some great restaurant recommendations for the local area (try Nannarella in particular!).||The Residenza is perfectly located in the lively and beautiful Trastevere neighbourhood close to loads of great restaurants and bars, beautiful churches and piazzas. It is also just a short walk, around 20-25 minutes from a lot of the main sights such as the Colosseum, Roman Forum, 30 mins to Vatican City etc, or a minute walk from a taxi rank so it was very easy to get a taxi when we preferred not to walk.||I would like to thank Urszula again for such a wonderful stay, you really made it very special for us and we very much hope to return in the...
Read moreI would guess Ursula is one of the reasons visitors return. From the day I made reservations, she was accessible and promptly replied to my questions within seconds. She and her son were accommodating and so welcoming when we finally arrived on the property, exhausted and ready to take a nap. She provided a welcoming charcuterie with Prosecco wine which my husband and I so appreciated. She was so friendly and kind. The property itself was different from hotels I'm used to. ||It fronted a busy primary street so noise is easily heard if one is a light sleeper. The property had 5 bedrooms on the second floor of an apartment building. The room was small but had it's own private bathroom. It had a small seating area with a Queen size bed. The room was somewhat old but very clean. It worked for us because we were mostly out sightseeing. Ursula provided a nice breakfast spread of pastries, fruits, cold cuts, cheeses, hard boiled eggs, coffee, tea, and juices every morning. The location was pretty central in the Tastevere area close to many restaurants, boutiques, and cafes. The city center of Rome - Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, etc was 20 minutes walking distance. Parking as in all of Rome was difficult. ||The price of the room per night was reasonable. I would recommend this place if you are on a budget, a stickler for impeccable customer service that paid attention to details, and do not mind...
