Vero food and smiles — Restaurant in Rome

I found Vero Food and Smiles while staying nearby, just a quick 5-minute walk from my hotel (uphill there, downhill back 👀). I had originally planned to stop at D’Angelo’s right across the way for an afternoon coffee, but even though their hours said they were open, the doors were locked. Luckily, Vero was open and welcoming—and it turned out to be such a great find! 🔎

What drew me in first was their frozen coffee. After living abroad in Europe for the past few years (and relocating from the U.S.), I’ve found iced coffee in just about any form to be rare and often inaccessible 😭 I usually end up making my own at home, so having a refreshing frozen coffee here was such a treat! It was the perfect pick-me-up after a hot day in Rome 🧊

Beyond the coffee, I loved the clean, earthy, and health-focused aesthetic 🌿 The café has so many options for different dietary needs, and a quick fridge stocked with fresh, ready-to-go items like salads, bowls, and sandwiches. Pair that with their coffee bar, pastries, and a hot breakfast menu, and there’s truly something for everyone 😌

This place was very close to my work and I stopped in there several times for breakfast and lunch. In the morning lots of delicious pastry options and of course espresso or cappuccino. It's especially easy to get a cappucciono or cafe americano to go here. Many good, fresh lunch options. Pre-made salads and sandwiches in a cooler are very good. A step up from your usual boring cafeteria fare. My salad had a little chicken wrap inside; another salad had pomegranate in it. Yum. If I could rate this place 0, I would. My Husband and I came here to get breakfast. We got pancakes with ice cream and coffee. They gave us a buzzer and told us to collect our own food when it’s ready. We sat and waited. We got our food. They gave me the regular pancakes with chocolate sauce on top, which means they messed up my order. Didn’t to leave it alone. Noticed after some minutes being in there, the staff members decided to serve others, no buzzers in sight. Very discriminating behaviour, but sadly that’s Italy.
