🇮🇹 Authentic Napoli Pizza in Rome!

As a pizza lover, I was excited to try 50 Kalò, a renowned pizzeria led by Ciro Salvo, a third-generation pizza maker. The quality of ingredients and care put into crafting the perfect pizza is evident through their use of organic tomatoes, award-winning extra virgin olive oils, and seasonal menu changes. Despite being seated in the basement without a reservation, the unpleasant humidity and smell in the air couldn't deter my excitement for the meal ahead. Our order consisted of two huge Napoletana pizzas, and I must say, they were delicious. The light, digestible dough, a result of Salvo's expertise in super hydrated dough, and the combination of fresh, high-quality ingredients made for an enjoyable meal. You could really sense the history and tradition behind this restaurant. However, we couldn't help but compare 50 Kalò's pizzas to the sourdough pizzas at their nearby competitor, Berberè Pizzeria. As fans of sourdough, we found ourselves slightly more partial to Berberè's style. Additionally, our experience at 50 Kalò was marred by the inattentive staff and lackluster service. It seemed like they were more focused on the upstairs diners with reservations, leaving us feeling somewhat neglected. This was disappointing, considering the culinary accolades and recognition the pizzeria has received. In conclusion, 50 Kalò offers delicious Neapolitan-style pizza with rich history, but it wasn't our top pick, and the service could use improvement. Still, it's worth a visit if you're in the area and appreciate this style of pizza. Enjoy!

Service Small wait line, took our name. Got in in ~15 min. Got placed in a weird spot between a group and another table Around us, we were the only ones who did not order. It took about 15-20 minutes for someone to come to us. On the plus side, they knew we were not italian, but they were patient as we ordered the whole night in italian. After that everything went smoothly. Ambiance The most styled restaurant we saw in our whole vacation at Rome. Really beautiful, menu are integrated in the placemat, chairs were REALLY confortable. It was loud, but the kind of loud you'd expect of people having good time and laughing. A lot of native seems to come to this place. Food To drink, took la birra bionda di Ciro Salvo 75 cL. The bottle was huge, and the beer was very good. Seems to be the in house beer. To eat, my wife and I ordered the supplì rosso and alla crema di parmigiano. They were really good. During our vacation, my wife did not like traditional supplì al pomodoro, but she really liked it this one. It tasted a little more cheesy than tomato. We also ordered 2 Margherita pizzas al bufala. What came out the most to me was the taste of the tomatoes and the crust of the pizza. Pomodoro salsa was sweet and not acidic. The crust was tastefull and not too yeasty and not too charred. Price: for 2 cost 54 euros. The cheapest restaurant of our vacation but the one I was the most impressed. I'd come again :)

From the moment we stepped into 50 Kalò di Ciro Salvo, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism. The hostess welcomed us with genuine kindness, setting the tone for what would become one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve ever had.

The service here is unparalleled. The waiters didn’t just take our orders; they elevated our evening, anticipating every need and engaging us with friendliness and care. They truly made our night something special, and it’s rare to find such dedication in hospitality.

And then came the star of the show: the pizza. Without a doubt, one of the best we’ve ever tasted. Every topping was fresh and balanced, showing the expertise and passion that goes into each creation.

What amazed us further was the efficiency. Despite the restaurant being lively, the food arrived quickly without any compromise on quality.

We’re lucky enough to be in Rome until the 20th of December, and there’s no question we’ll be returning to 50 Kalò di Ciro Salvo before we leave. It’s not just a meal here; it’s an experience that stays with you. Bravo to the...
