Do not go here. Not because the food is bad, it isn't, but because this restaurant is a total rip off. We ordered a nice wine, white Muller for €25 and we're happily choosing mains offered for between €12 and mid 20. I was considering meatballs whe the waiter, obviously in charge, offered a specials version. I accepted and my husband ordered veal . All was fine until the absolutely illegible hand written bill came with a total of €120 for our 3 meals and the wine. It seems the very special indeed meatballs were €30, more expensive than almost anything else including the lobster! Also there was a 10% service charge tucked away in a corner of the menu in size almost zero font - I had to use my reading glasses as magnifiers to read it. I protested to no avail, considered paying less in cash but did not bother and left disgusted by these CHARLATONS after paying by card....
Read moreThe restaurant is very low key but the food is amazing! When we first arrived in Rome and we were looking for a lunch place and came upon this little gem. We were warmly greeted by the grandma when we walked in. The first thing that got our attention was the antipasti table, full of great looking freshly prepared dishes., one of which was artichokes Roman style, or carciofi alla romana (see the attached picture). This place was packed with local business people during lunch time and the daily menu was in Italian only. The waiter spoke little English and we had even less Italian. But we had a great meal.
Next evening we went back for dinner. Again it was a great experience. We had 4 courses and a large (1L) carafe of wine. The food was again fantastic and the cost was only 40 euros.
If we are back to this part of Rome again, we would definitely go back to...
Read moreThis is one of our favorite restaurants in Rome. It was recommended to us back in 2016 and we took our parents here in 2019.
The food is beyond exquisite. Every bite that you take absolutely melts in your mouth. They use the freshest ingredients possible to make every morsel 'pop' with flavor. The wine is very fresh and good. What we like about Da Giovanni's is the prices. You can't beat the food and the prices, it is so reasonably in comparison to everything else we found in Rome.
The best part is the dessert, the Lemon Cello cheesecake. It literally is one of the best things I have had in Rome. If you are in Rome, you owe it to yourself to check this out. This is a staple of ours every time we visit. it...
