Wiener Haus Porta di Roma — Restaurant in Rome

We went to Weiner Haus at Porta di Roma in Rome, Italy.

First, we were surprised that they not only did not serve sauerkraut, they did not even know what sauerkraut was.

Secondly, and much worse than that, we had a problem at time of payment. We asked for our bill and were told to take our table number to the register. I said that I would prefer a written bill. They said they don' t do that.

My wife and I shared a meal for 7.80 Euros and had a couple of non=alcoholic drinks. I reluctantly went to the register and was told that the bill was 53.30. I almost fell on the floor and said we only had one meal. He mumbled something and said the bill was 14.40 Euros. I asked for a written bill again and was told that I would get one after I paid. I did so and noticed that when I finally got my bill, the total included a forced gratuity of 10 % that I would never have given willingly. They did not remove it.

We arrived on a Thursday at 15:30 and when attempting to enter to dine two rude female employees advised us it is closed now and they decided to close early since there were no customers. My wife advised them we just arrived after a 1 hour 30 min drive at the mall and the response was two people is not enough to stay open. Based on the rudeness the staff responded with I believe they would have done the same thing for a group of 8. Several people were leaving at the time who were foreigners and one mentioned " You don't miss anything..."after hearing the conversation with the employee. Considering that the restaurant is in the food court of a busy mall and the website as well as the sign on the entry door says open till 16:00, maybe it should be changed to open till the staff wants to close early. Da cliente storica, confermo il mio giudizio positivo sui ragazzi in sala, ma sono rimasta molto delusa nel constatare come i prezzi siano lievitati e la quantità di cibo ridotta: la combinazione è inaccettabile! Se un rincaro era prevedibile, almeno le quantità e la qualità dei piatti si sperava restasse invariata, invece...Signori, la crisi non la soffrono solo i ristoratori, ma anche gli avventori che inoltre, non amano essere presi in giro! Ma la soluzione c'è: la prossima volta che mi attarderò al centro commerciale, preferirò fare una spaghettata a casa, amici compresi! Peccato davvero, soprattutto, lo ripeto, per i ragazzi in sala. AGGIORNAMENTO Modifico quanto scritto sopra, otto mesi fa e tolgo ancora una stella! Seppur delusa dalle ultime esperienze, ho voluto dare un'altra chance al Wiener, soprattutto per i ragazzi che ci lavorano, ma la politica del locale non solo non è cambiata, ma è peggiorata. Ho preso l'insalata Golosa, che avrebbe dovuto contenere "Insalata mista in foglia, cotoletta di tacchino* panata, prosciutto cotto Praga, pomodorini datterini, crostini di pane* dorati e salsa Wiener", in realtà si è trattato di un piatto di insalata e pezzi di pane tostato, chiaramente tagliati dai paninetti ai semi che, talvolta, portano quando si chiede del pane, non quindi CROSTINI che nascono come tali. Della cotoletta, ho rinvenuto, al massimo 6 cubetti da 1x1 centimetri, FREDDI che sembravano ricavati da una comanda sbagliata, il Praga poi...una decina di striscette TRASPARENTI, perse nel mare di pane. Pure i pomodorini erano latitanti e non saprei dire con certezza se ossero datterini. Insomma €9.20 per un piatto di pane tostato (?) Ed insalata con illusione di tacchino e Praga! Il Burger Milano, scelto con pane bretzel (+0.60€) era talmente piccolo che, la minuscola cotoletta, sporgeva dal pane e per finire, due caffè €5! Per non parlare del COPERTO, che consiste nelle posate, un tovagliolo ed una tovaglietta-menù-foglio di carta. Insomma si esce lda lì con la sensazione di essere trattati da clienti da...
