I am a 35yo solo traveler who had a 12h overnight in Rome. Yellowbar was one of the few places listed with "live music" but this Friday it did not. I had two duffelbags and failed to find a place to store them at the Roma airport. Unlucky / lucky for me you cannot bring bags inside the bar (totally makes sense) - so they let me into the hostel across the street they also own and I got a locker there. I hung out inside solo and people watched. Would be cool with friends for sure. Stayed til about closing as I needed to catch the 430am train back to Roma airport At the bnb to get my bags - I found a group of friends jamming out and it was one of the best night experiences I've had. So in tandem the yellowbar and yellow square (the hostel they also own) I feel is the move. You also get discounts at the bar with a wrist band. The bouncers never checked me lingering long to grab my bags and other non hostel residents were in the group hanging out too. Def worth the stress of taking the last train into Rome and first train out to the airport haha. Photos are in the hostel

Great bar, with cocktails for around €6 to 8€ and if you stay at the hostel and book on their website you get 20% discount on drinks. Regarding drinks, I highly recommend the pitchers to share! Trust me, it’ll be worth it. For food, very good prices considering the quality of the food. I highly recommend the yellow bistro burger for €8,5; the onion rings for €3,5 — it’s a lot of tasty onion rings— and the cheese and tomato omelette for €6 — huge and delicious, almost as a brunch. Finally, kind regards to male bartenders, always with a smile and happy to take your order. I would improve: the toilet paper on the women’s bathroom, which runs out every night; and —totally subjective— the music quality downstairs (sometimes it’s too much of the same pop electronic mixes).

Living in Italy, I like to find places that remind me of home. Yellow Bar does exactly that. They have amazing tacos with corn tortillas and fresh Italian ingredients. I got the pork and the chicken tacos an was not disappointed. Also, their popper from hell are fabulous with the fresh guacamole. Their beer on tap is a nice selection and a friend who had a margarita loved it. Just don’t be there during feeding time of the hostel it is attached to. It gets crowded then, but that doesn’t last. Every time I go to Rome from the south of Italy, I stop here for a nice bite.

GIRLS please READ and be careful!!! I went to this bar with my friend since we were in Rome for vacation. The staff was very kind and the ambiance was great, BUT there was this group of boys who wouldn’t stop HARASSING me and my friend, my friend got really angry because they were not understanding the clear NO. When my friend finally yelled at them asking them to leave us, they just went laughing and making fun of us just because we rejected them. A couple that was next to us tried to defend us and we told the guards but they DID NOTHING, just told us to chill. Which is not OKAY and something I never experienced in Europe before, usually when someone is clearly HARASSING girls the guard should ask them to leave not ask us to chill. Unbelievable!! The people at the bar and the ones coordinating the party were so nice, sadly I would not be coming back to that place and honestly made fear nightlife in Rome in general. PLEASE girls be careful!!! These are the type of guys who do not take a NO for an answer and the guards seemed to be their friends. Would NOT hang out there or recommended to any girl, please be careful, specially if you’re young 😔 I really can’t stress this enough. They even TOUCHED us, were trying to grab us and forcing us to talk or dance. On our way out, we met other people and they told us this bar has had issues before because of the same thing. This is not new for them and they did nothing. Please if you go be careful of your drink as well. But honestly I would totally skip this bar, it was very unpleasant for us and to think that could be worse for others girls and they are just ask to CHILL breaks my heart. Be safe out there.

Response:

As I said before everyone member of the staff was very kind, and they did talk to us on our way out. However, we were not going to stay next to a group that was harassing us just a minute ago, as much as there was a security person watching over, it’s just uncomfortable and upsetting.

I understand that everyone has the right to be at the bar and have a good time, but when someone is being disrespectful towards others that person should be removed for others people safety. Because it could be us in that moment and later other girls.

I understand you try to create a safe environment but I’m afraid that’s no possible if you let people who are harassing get away it, because that’s what happened. We left and they just got away with it and they’ll probably come back and do the same thing to other girls because they know they just get a warning...

I tried this place three times while I was staying at the hostel.

1: I had gotten a pizza from another establishment to go and was hoping to eat it at the bar if I ordered a drink. I was firmly and immediately denied service that I could not bring outside food in. I was referred to as "bro" in a condescending manner during this. It was very quiet with not many people inside so I didn't see the issue but whatever. Kick to the teeth is the next day I go for a burger and I see a couple guys at the bar eating a pizza from a different place and having beers. Talk about double standards.

2: Went with a buddy to get a Spritz, was serviced quickly and got a table right away. Issue I had here was even after stating that I was with the hostel they did not ask to see my bracelet nor gave me the advertised discount on my drink. Thought to myself whatever, not worth trying to argue over it.

3: Walked past and saw that they had live music and decorated for Halloween. Unfortunately as soon as I entered the bar the guy got off stage and didn't have any more sets, which I thought strange as it was 19:30 at the time. Oh well, my loss. So I stand and wait to be serviced at the front bar for a few minutes making eye contact with the servers but no one is acknowledging me. Just as I'm about to leave someone finally comes by. I place my order for a burger and hand over my "free drink" coupon I got from the hostel. This time I make sure to show that I have my hostel bracelet. Even still, they charge me full price again!

So from my experience, I did not feel welcomed in the bar. It felt like because I didn't speak Italian well or that I didn't look the part that I was being ostracized. Maybe it's because I'm not in my early 20's or female. The food was okay nothing to rave about, and beer was good.

Yellow Bar put a sour note on my trip to Rome and I don't recommend it even for the convenience of its location to the hostel. It's a bar that is trying to be run like a club. Uncomfortable treatment and neglect by wait staff. Compliments to the cooks who were the only ones to service me with...

Good location walking and (I think) that there's a couple buys stops that are also very close, maybe a few blocks. I thought it was very odd at first and my friend thought that the receptionist was joking that both of our rooms were in different buildings across the street of the check-in. In that building there was this "play area" they called it. It was bad. Big jenga and I bunch of horrible bean bags. It was a nice area to chill though. Also a kitchen for us to use. Updated appliances, nice big table in the centre. Although my space of when I made some good was taken over by a large group of 10, was a bit rude espically because they didn't ask. I know it was just me but still. Just a bit annoying, nothing the yellow could've done because it's not really their problem (in my mind). 3 restraunts extremely close, including their bar. Fyi the bar is pricey.

One of the bathrooms to my female 6 dorm had a dirty floor and when I took a shower the drain would clog up. So i was standing in dirty water during my shower. But I did like the set up of my floor. Espically that there were 5 mirrors along the wall with chairs, hair dryers, and a long bar as a table to do makeup or something. In my room the bunk beds were different from any of the pictures, a bit creaky to go up and down. The storage lockers were underneath the beds, but don't forget to bring your own lock. They probably sell them too for a fee but I didn't bother. The also give a little sequirity safe box near the door for every bed.

Some little things I didn't like but over all was a...
