Me and my family visited the place together with 16 of my friends. We were assigned a room at the back of the restaurant, a nice room with sufficient space.
We ordered different courses so I cannot speak for all of us. However, me and my husband had the carpaccio for starter (it was clearly a thick type of breasola, not real carpaccio - no olive oil, no parmesan cheese), a disappointment. For the main course we had the tagliata steak. A few of my friends had it as well, and you could tell that the steaks were cooked unevenly. Mine was medium rare (which I prefer), but my husbands was almost well done.. We did not get to choose the cooking degree either.
The cheese and charquterie board to share was also underwhelming. With the vast variety of both cheeses and meats in the region, I felt disappointed by the selection.
My son had the ragu, again, underwhelming flavours and a lack of depth.
Overall the service and food was alright to accommodate a group of 18 people, but the flavours were bland and the restaurant itself seemed...
Read moreBetter late than never! I'm writing months after my visit to say thanks and to compliment the team at Boccon del Prete. We had a fantastic meal and experience here during our visit to Siena. (As an American tourist, I'm not sure why there's not more buzz about Siena, but alas, I guess that's good news for me). This restaurant showcases the best of Italian cuisine by letting the fresh ingredients do the talking. I still dream about the cacio e pepe I ate :) Two gentlemen attended to us and they struck the perfect balance of attentiveness and professionalism. I spoke a mix of very poor Italian and English to them and they were sincerely kind; you can't fake that kindness.
I'm sorry to see the bad reviews proceeding mine ....which look fake, truth be told. Ahh the bots. Anyway, don't be thrown off by that.
Thanks for the fantastic meal and Italian...
Read moreIf I could, I’d give this place 4.5 stars. We didn’t research it beforehand — we were in a rush to eat and saw they had space, so we decided to give it a try. Honestly, we were very pleasantly surprised!
We started with a caprese salad, which was fresh and good. The tagliatelle al tartufo was absolutely delicious (buttery with real pieces of truffle), the tagliatelle ai funghi was also excellent, and the pici cacio e pepe was very tasty as well. All the pastas were perfectly cooked and full of flavor.
We noticed that other tables received a basket of bread, but we didn’t — unfortunately we realized too late to ask for it.
For dessert, the tiramisu was very good and the crème brûlée didn’t really taste like a classic crème brûlée, but it was still delicious.
Overall, a wonderful surprise and a place I’d...
