Last week while in Siena, we visited De Nicola while looking for a jacket for my wife and met Francesco, the owner’s son. This young man is enthusiastic, knowledgeable, personable, and eager to help customers get a product they will be happy with.

His shop has a substantial inventory of men’s and women’s leather jackets and coats, as well as countless accessories. My wife wound up buying a lambskin jacket that fits her like a glove, for what we both thought was a very reasonable price. Cowhide leather garments in the States often sell for much more.

I had not intended to shop for a jacket, but my wife (not Francesco) prodded me to try on a couple. Before we left, I was torn between something off the rack and custom ordering a jacket with slightly different features. I was a little gun shy about paying for a leather jacket order, then returning to the States with the promise that what I wanted would be shipped in a matter of weeks.

I shared my concerns with Francesco by email that evening and awoke to find a response from him just after 1:00 AM that same morning. He referred me to his shop’s Google reviews as evidence of his ability to make and keep reasonable promises. He said he’d rather lose a sale than have a customer anxious or unsatisfied.

Two days later we returned to the shop in Siena and I tried on a number of different jackets, in addition to the one I liked the most previously. Francesco was as solicitous as before. I tried on a beautiful darker brown jacket with the minimalist styling I wanted. It fit me very well,,and I bought it. It is a beautiful jacket that I paid a surprisingly attractive amount for.

Just for reference, we are in Florence this week, surrounded by leather shops. One evening, we went to a shop that my wife’s best friend wanted us to visit, as she had bought around a dozen leather jackets and coats from it over the years. The owner had a very detailed coat that my wife liked a great deal and he had me try on a grey Nubuck jacket that fit me well. The price he quoted us for both items was a staggering four digit number that brought the evening to a quick close.

If I want another leather jacket, Francesco at De Nicola in Siena is who I’ll reach out to. I am confident that once he has the measurements and specifications he needs that I’ll get what I ordered, and at a fair price. I recommend this...

There are a lot of leather shops and manufacturers of leather goods and in this case jackets from Siena to Florence but if you want the best of quality, exceptional service and unique design this is by far the best place to go. Francesco will make sure that you have the best fit and have you try the best style to suit your needs and want. We purchased 3 jackets and gloves from him, even made one custom since the size wasn’t perfect. Francesco told us a week and did he ever deliver, we picked up our jacket as promised in Florence after ordering in Siena to accommodate our travel plans. The jacket was absolutely perfect. This place truly deserves their 5 star ranking. Francesco was wonderful. This store sells the leather jackets that are designed and manufactured by his family. He knows every single jacket they have in stock and probably how they fit you. Excellent quality of leather - the one I bought is an incredibly supple and light goat skin unlike any other leather and would be much more expensive anywhere else. Top quality product and not your ordinary leather jacket - at a much better deal then elsewhere because you are bypassing all the middlemen going direct from the factory. I tried on a lot of jackets and did not see a single defect on any of them. Francesco also mentioned that they could custom make the jacket to adjust on the standard sizing and ship it to the US. 10/10 would buy...
