Today was quite an adventure! We set out to visit Santa Maria Novella church, but being Sunday, it only opened after 13 o'clock. Being near the station, we decided to visit it and saw that the next departure to Siena was in 10 minutes. So, we said, why not see Siena's Duomo 😅?
We arrived in Siena, and we were hungry. On the train, I Googled where to eat. The chosen place was full, but then we came across Quattro Venti. It was also full, but luckily, they had two spots left. A nice and cozy place!
We were immediately served water and pappa al pomodoro (tomato soup with bread) - delicious! Then we were asked about food and drinks 😅. We took Pici con Aglione (goood!) and Taglio di Manzo with baked potatoes (also very goood). No photos - we were too hungry 😇.Then we had Tiramisu and Catalana, both very goooood.
I sat near the kitchen and saw how they moved - like in a ballet. I don’t know if all osterias are like this, but they had a guy who checked each plate before it left the kitchen and cleaned the desk right after. The waiters were great - funny, super attentive and professional.

Read moreI find it is a unique restaurant. Definitely value for money. Right at the beginning they serve out of charge a small portion of food made of pomodore typical of the area so that you can try. Regarding the choice, they have very tasty plates. The people working there are very friendly and they try very hard to make you feel comfortable. They had the perfect white wine on glass for me and I’m very picky. They are super flexible and my partner and me wanted to share a plate and they made it separate from the beginning. A plate that I thought could not be easily divided (a cream-purée) and with the most elegant presentation. The service is very nice and very educated. They have a terrace right outside where we were lucky to find a free spot and we had a really nice atmosphere. The pavement is uphill but they manage to the tables and chairs very comfortably. We ordered the yolk al quattre vents, meat (top right from the menu) and selection of cheese. I really recommend this place if you want to enjoy the food while feeling relaxed and enjoying the medieval...
Read moreBest place to eat and drink in Siena!. Owner has great taste in wines and food but perhaps even more so in staff!. An amazing team ensure you are exceptionally well looked after. Everything is done properly. Broad and carefully selected wines from the region pair beautifully with elevated dishes respecting tradition. Chicken liver terrine with fig and raspberry bringing seasonality with a modern twist on the Tuscan classic crostini. Very refined. Same for all the other dishes we tried. Not a single missed step. Pasta was silky and the sauces simultaneously deeply flavourful yet elegant and pure. Everything you hope for in a modern Tuscan osteria. And if you get a chance dine on the street it is surreal to be seated on an ancient street in Siena and feeling the contemporary pulse of evening life overseen by the buildings which have seen medieval battles and so many generations...
