Ristorante Al Mangia — Restaurant in Siena

Chose this place because it was a convenient location before having to meet our tour group within half the hour. Really just had time for a drink, there was only 1 table, so we figured they'd have time to pour 2 drinks and a couple sodas. We opted to pay immediately so we could enjoy our drinks and leave as soon as we saw our tour guide.

Observed that the 2 servers during our visit were talking amongst themselves and the bartender (at what seemed about our table at they kept looking our way) the whole time we were waiting... 15 minutes after we paid, we still had no drinks, and we saw our tour group lining up.

We kindly asked if we could get the drinks to go so we did not get left behind, and one server claimed, "This is not a McDonald's."

Needless to say, we left with only (3 of the 5) paid drinks as we were now needing to leave asap. We did not bother to wait for the 2 beers we paid for as initially, the bartender was pouring a beer in a cup with a dead fly in it and noticed we saw him. He poured it out ONLY because he got caught. I was livid and we had to leave already, so I was not able to deal with it.. this was about 20-25 minutes from the time we placed our order

We did not feel welcomed. Being a tourist spot, prices were high, and we couldn't even give a review on the beers as we never received them

There are plenty of other places to choose from other than this business with a nice view, better service, and soda/beer.

If you decide to choose this restaurant, hopefully you get a better experience.

They wasted our time, money, and unfortunately, it was the only negative experience to our beautiful...

Had 20 minutes to kill and ordered 3 kids' drinks and 2 small beers and immediately paid before getting the drink as we were to meet our tour group after 20 minutes.

Towards the 15 minute mark... no drinks in hand... politely asked if we can take the drinks to go.. 2 servers talked amongst themselves going back and forth in disapproval and told the Bartender.. but we needed to go as we did not want to get left behind.

One of the servers claimed "this is not McDonald's"

Bartender noticed my husband saw he was pouring a beer with 2 flies in it, so threw it away.. can't imagine if my husband did not catch that.

Either way, 20 minutes to get 3 kids' drinks and 2 beers seemed sufficient with only 1.. maybe 2.. other small tables.

The rudeness was THICK in that Bar/restaurant.. definitely unnecessary.

We left with 3 kids' drink and paid for beers we didn't get.

To the servers and bartender that went out of the way for horrible service, If you don't like dealing with tourists, maybe you shouldn't serve in a prime tourist location.

Great experience last night! The restaurant is in thr best position, just in front of the Mangia tower. Nice and elegant ambiance, professional waiters and selected dishes, with great quality, good prentation and what matters the most, good flavors. I saw many negative reviews given for sure by cheap and tasteless tourists, with no interest in eating a nice selection of great Italian food but instead looking for a cheap meal in the best location. That is bad and not right. Al Mangia deserves respectful attention and appreciaton for bringing quality dining in an otherwise tourist location. Thsnk...
