Worst sandwich and service experience ever. Walked in and the music was blasting so loud I could not hear the service staff and she could not hear me either as I was yelling my order. They would not lower the volume of the music and told me thatās why I should place my order in front of the till (š¤ so the music is not loud at the till? She basically got mad at me for placing my order from the wrong spot. And ignored my request as I could not hear them and I suspected they could not hear me either. I yelled for a recommendation. What is your best or most popular sandwich for first timers. She says #2. I said ok I said I want a cold sandwich as it was sweltering hot. The lady behind counter nodded seemingly hearing me (she did not). Of course after paying an absurd 12euros for a sandwich and waiting 15 minutes, I receive a hot sandwich. At that point I let them know this is hot sandwich. They said they can only make the #2 hot. Ok, but I asked for a cold sandwich. They did not hear me. I pointed to the loud music problem. The lady who made me the sandwich offered to make me a new one. 1. I didnāt have the time to stick around longer. 2. The blasting music was giving me a headache so staying longer was torture. I said I donāt want a new sandwich but I told them all of this could have been avoided if we could hear each other by turning the music down. Thatās when the other skinny girl with the attitude told me to eff off in Italian. Very classy. To make matters worse I get home 5 minutes later to eat my hot sandwich in air conditioning and I open it and it looks like this mess. After one bite I realize it was terrible. Ultra messy and ultra salty. This was their best sandwich?! I threw it out ultimately. Save your money and time. Just go to any deli for a fresh tomato, mozzarella and ham sandwich for 5 euros. No loud music and they will treat you with a little...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBased on the owner's responses to other negative reviews, she will probably say we are on vacation and we should be happy and enjoy the moment. We were happy and ready to enjoy our day before we went to this shop.
I am giving this review not because I have tasted the sandwich. I wished I did but my experience before I could even order the sandwich was very very poor. Owners of this store should receive all these negative reviews with an open mind (this is called constructive criticism to improve your business).
13/4/2025 - 11.45am. Wife was hungry and we were about to catch our transport to Amalfi at 12.20pm. Googled nearby sandwiches and this joint popped up with 4.8 stars. So we walked there and outside the shop, there were about 15 people waiting for their orders (based on the dockets that were in the hands). We walked in and loud music was in our faces. No greetings of Bongiorno to acknowledge our entry as most shops in a touristy town generally do (fair since there were only 2 behind the counter and they were busy). Went to the front of the counter to get their attention and stood there for 3 minutes waiting to be served. One of the lady then picked up a mic halfway making her sandwich and started singing. Then came in a father with his young son on his arms. As soon as they came in, the music changed and the lady crank' up the volume and started karoake-ing with the father and son. And completely ignored us at the counter. We waited another 2 minutes and just decided to walk out and away. I don't think this is a way to do business honestly especially when you're in a service based industry. At least acknowledge your customers, inform about wait times and clearer signage about A'marenna app and customers can then make a more informed choice. This is truly a non malicious review but an honest one for you to improve your 4.8 stars to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDespite the hype, we found our sandwiches to be rather mediocre tasting, burnt and too salty. They cost ā¬12 each. We know this shop has a huge following and the owner has replied quite smugly over any reviews that were not to their favour but we have to share what we experienced.
We thought grabbing a sandwich would be nice and quick as we didn't have much time in Sorrento. The queue ended up being 45 minutes (and we didn't get out of the queue to go somewhere else as it was then 1pm, started queueing at 12.15pm). When we got into the queue, we thought we were early for lunch š .
Anyways, after ordering and paying, we waited further 40 minutes to get our 2 sandwiches. It was quite stressful.
As the bakery is very popular, the owner should consider getting extra help during busy times. That would be nice and great for everyone.
Also, we are not sure why the sandwiches were so burnt. We do like the slightly burnt flavour, but this was too much.
Anyways, if you don't have A LOT of time, you shouldn't queue here (yes, we read about the passion they put into making the food, hence the wait). But slicing meat for every sandwich at that point (especially when there's a queue) is not practical. And maybe slow down on the showmanship during peak times, so more people can get their food (which they claim is made with passion hence should be able to make more people Happy- not the...
