PLEASE READ THE LOWER STAR REVIEWS TOO, NOT JUST THE HIGHER STAR ONES LIKE US.
One word, disappointed. Not sure if it's because we came here in the winter months but the reviews were raving about the steak and pizza, but both were unsatisfactory. Few mentioned tourist trap, which could has some merit to it after eating here. On second note, on a Wednesday night, 19:13 currently and only 3 foreign tables (including myself) and 1 table looks to be local, restaurant is mostly empty.
BEWARE: After talking to the server, credit where credit is due, he offered another pizza. But showing him the steak from the reviews with a nice sear and looking succulent, he mentioned "different steak" and "it's the sauce" but can tell he was getting a little defensive about it so we didn't push it.
Before all the negativity, the house wine was superb. Compared to some of the house wine we had around Rome, this has solid house wine.
The nitty and gritty bit, as steaks and pizza were supposed to be good according to the reviews, but both underperformed severely. Steak, had the ribeye, lacked the sear present on some of the reviews, looked as bland as a Buffalo, tasted watery and with some salt was (a little) edible, I couldn't bring myself to finish it. Just to quote another 1 Star review of the steak, "The steak tasted so bad we felt bad for the cow."
Pizza, we had the Eatery, pizza smelled okay, but had an off taste to it, it's though chewy, and doesn't taste great, we couldn't finish it too.
If you are looking for great steak however, the Ribeye at "Life Restaurant" in...

Read moreMeating was one of the highlights of our stay in Sorrento. Tucked back on one of Sorrento's oldest streets it had a secluded feel while being just feet (or meters 😂) away from one of the main shopping/tourist streets. Google maps worked beautifully in getting us there with no problems. We made reservations but it was not crowded so you might get away with getting seated without reservations. The atmosphere was old world cozy. The wood fired pizza oven and wine racks occupying the space just inside the doorway added to the ambience. Our server was warm, friendly, and helpful. Our daughters (20 & 22) both had pasta dishes and raced about how good they were. The Gnocchi Sorrento and a pesto pasta dish were excellent. My husband and I splurged and ordered the Tomahawk Steak. Zero regrets! It was HUGE and prepared PERFECTLY. It arrived on a gigantic cutting board and had been sliced and surrounded but several vegetables: carrots, grilled zucchini, eggplant, sauteed broccoli (that must be a different variety of broccoli than what is commonly used into the U.S., more like a spinach, so yummy), roasted sweet potatoes, and more, all delicious. Thankfully the girls helped us eat it all or we would have never been able to finish. Chocolate Souffle and Berry Cheesecake topped it all of! Delicious! Wait staff and owner were so welcoming. We even took turns with the owner showing our dog photos and took selfies with the pizza chef! ...
