I had the pleasure of dining at Ristorante Bagni Sant’Anna during a recent trip to Sorrento, and the experience was nothing short of magical.
Set directly on the water’s edge, the restaurant offers breathtaking views of the sea – and as the sun began to set, we found ourselves dining against the most spectacular golden backdrop. It was one of those moments where the setting alone already felt special.
The food was equally impressive. We began with a beautifully grilled fish – light, clean in flavour, and not in the least bit dry. The squid was another highlight: perfectly tender and full of smoky, chargrilled character. The seafood pasta was truly memorable, with wonderfully chewy noodles and a rich, savoury sauce that brought everything together.
For dessert, we enjoyed a selection of canelé, tiramisu, and lemon cake – all delicious in their own right and a perfect way to end the meal. Each sweet offered a different texture and flavour, yet all were executed with finesse.
What truly made the evening unforgettable, however, was the arrival of an elderly gentleman with a guitar just as the sun touched the horizon. He began to play O Sole Mio and other classics, and suddenly the entire atmosphere shifted – as if we had been transported into a romantic film. It was spontaneous, heartfelt, and incredibly moving.
The only regret I have is not being able to leave a tip for the musician, as I didn’t have any cash on me – something I truly felt sorry for.
In every way, this was a flawless dining experience – from the food to the view to the atmosphere. I wholeheartedly recommend Ristorante Bagni Sant’Anna to anyone visiting Sorrento. It’s the kind of place that lingers in your memory long after the...
Read moreSorrento scenery not only leaves you breathless but certainly it does enchant you. Especially when admired from the sea level, it grows on you like an unforgettable moment in time. And yes, this is what happens when you visit this amazing restaurant on top of few rocks at the marina beach. Before you keep reading, make sure you make a reservation for the water-front tables, I mean in front of the water where you can almost touch the fish or feed them if you want... or watch an amazing sunset. Here the order of the day is seafood, as fresh as you can see the live shrimps and lobsters or choose to watch a working team in the kitchen over a huge window, where you can also see that the only frozen thing is that drink you ordered. One thing we enjoyed is the team work, if your wine glass gets empty or you finish with a plate or run out of bread, immediately someone passes by and takes care of it, all done with a smile and with the excellence of service well done. I even went beyond the regular menu and asked if I could create my own plate with specific seafood items and cooked my way, to which it was granted. They went even further and added more than what I asked at no cost. Our three hours sunset dinner went like a trip in the clouds, imagine delicious dishes prepared your way with amazing local wines, all served with very good smiling and friendly service, while you are captivated by one of the most amazing views on earth, well, ...not sure about you, but we just have found our forever-spot here in Sorrento. Whenever we are back, will...
Read moreThe restaurant is literally located on the water on a floating dock. It is a no frills restaurant that does seafood right. My guess is everything we ate was swimming in the sea earlier in the day.
We had fried calamari as an appetizer and it was perfectly cooked. Served with fries, which was a bit odd, but no biggie.
We had cheese ravioli for Primi. Again, perfectly cooked with a nice light tomato ragu.
For secondi we went with a special they offered us. It was a whole sea bass with broccoli and small potatoes. Light butter lemon dressing. Perfectly cooked and served tableside by the waiter who plucked it clean onto our plates with the traditional for and spoon technique.
Complementary Limoncello at the end of the meal. Two rounds.
Service was impeccable.
So why not five stars? It was the bill. We were surprised by the price of the fish. It doesn't matter what it was. I would just ask the server if you are offered a special what is the cost.
We have had great meals in Sorrento for about 25% less. This was not fine dining. We were careless and got burned.
Note: The map picture. Red pin for restaurant and blue dot for our table.
It was still a wonderful night, and yes, we would...
