Our experience at Ciauru Antica was absolutely superb. From the first moment we received a warm and friendly welcome from Teresa who was running front of house. The service was brilliant throughout and we were made to feel very relaxed and comfortable. We ordered antipasto and were presented with a wonderful and generous selection of cheeses, Olives and Meats, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We each ordered a pasta dish (my wife ordered Carbonara - which I think is the best we have had anywhere!) and I ordered bronte a mare which was a unique dish of pasta, prawns, Pistachios and a shellfish sauce - it was absolutely delicious. A special place in Ortegia that combines classic Sicilian ingredients with a contemporary flair of mixing amazing combinations of local fish, vegetables herbs, fruits and nuts to create out of this world flavors. Daniel’s unique style makes the complex-simple and the simple-complex.

We had Tuna Tartare, an amazing pasta w shrimp and pistachio pesto, a grilled branzino that was amazing, and a salad of blood oranges, anchovies, fennel and dill that was truly spectacular. Dinner was topped off with a Pana Cotta w fruit and chocolate, and an Amaro (a perfect Sicilian digestive).

Outstanding food coupled with great service

Kudos to Daniele who has opened this outstanding restaurant 3 months back. It’s in a corner by the seaside. We walked in for lunch after seeing the 5* reviews in Google. Daniele was an incredible host and suggested the mixed fish grilled. He substituted the squid with extra prawns as we were not interested in the squid. Perfectly grilled and absolutely fresh swordfish and prawns arrived on a large plate. We ordered the Spaghetti with tomato sauce and it was incredibly tasty. He suggested the local Arancia Rossa instead of cola and we loved it. After we finished he offered us free coffee !
