Last night my husband and I had the pleasure of dining at Batu. From start to finish we were blown away by the attention to service, detail and our overall experience! We were greeted by the charming restaurant manager, Carmelo, where we were led to our seats overlooking the hotels pool. ( had it been earlier in the evening, I’m sure the views of the sea would have been stunning!) He then walked us through the story of Batu, explaining its origins and how the menu worked. The excitement behind his voice only added to the overall experience.
We then had Julia(apologies if this is spelled incorrectly!) help us select our tasting menu, we opted for the chefs choice, an 8 course meal, plus 5 starters and three desserts, because of course!!!
Course by course was brought out and presented in the most dazzling ways, each telling their own story with incredible fusion of flavor and diverse ingredients. I felt particularly attached and forever changed by the radicchio which was macerated in miso for 2 weeks and then further prepared in honey??? INCREDIBLE
When it came time for the desserts, we were just finishing up our bottle of wine chosen with the help of Batus sommelier ( I didn’t catch her name but her expertise was wonderful!) and the desserts were probably one of our favorite parts! The basil ice cream was truly out of this world, then the second dessert was an ode of sorts to a caprese salad as it was a sphere of white chocolate with capers, topped with a basil leaf and olive oil…absolutely incredible.
As our evening drew to a close, Caramelo offered us an aperitif which we opted for the amaro on ice. He spoke to us about the amaro we were drinking, giving some background to the flavors held within our drinks before leaving us to finish in the quiet of the evening.
Dinner lasted well around three hours, magic in every minute of this wonderful dining experience. I hope nothing for the best for Batu, I believe they are well on their way to the coveted Michelin star, though even without one, we would still HIGHLY, recommend.
Thank you so much to the incredible staff, chefs, pastry chef, wait staff, and the hotel staff for making our time at...
