Kairos — Restaurant in Taormina

This Restaurant is located on the hill of TAORMINA.

The first small problems appeared when reaching the Hotel Splendid. Because this Restaurant is belonging to this Hotel.

It has a Terrace on the roof top.

When arriving we saw a sign to the Restaurant reachable by stairs.

The stairs were blocked by a worker who was sitting on it and needs to work in the Hotel.

But friendly fast he gave way.

Then we needed to enter the Hotel and met one man cleaning the floor.

He was asked where is the lift/elevator is to reach the Restaurant.

We entered and have reached the 4th floor where a Restaurant is located.

But this was wrong we got told and needed to go upstairs to the 5th floor where the Terrace Restaurant is located.

Here you will have a wonderful view down the hill and at the coast especially when it is sunny.

The Restaurant was empty at lunch time.

We were the only guests.

2 waiters were present.

Soon we got the Menu and Wine List.

Although this is a brand new Hotel we got told -while ordering a bottle of Wine - that the Wine List is not up to date...

The waiter offered a different Wine.

When we have asked for the price for the offered Wine bottle he was unable to tell me the price! He only estimated the price.

When he got informed in Italiano language that we want to get informed about the price before ordering suddenly he confirmed that we can get the Wine at that offered price....!

We ordered a bottle of Sparkling Water, S. PELLEGRINO, a bottle of White Wine " VIVIRI GRILLO Tenuta Rapitala " = 18 €.

The next order was Citrus Marinated Red Shrimps with Cuttle Fish = 14 €. BUT WHERE WAS THE CUTTLE FISH MENTIONED ON THE MENU??

The second ordered meal was a rack of Lamb from the Dinner Card = 22 €.

One of the waiters had problems with speaking/understanding Italiano and English..

When the meals arrived we can state that the taste of the shrimps were fresh and perfect. The portion should be bigger even it will become more expensive.

The lamb was average, dry and looking and tasted like deep frozen, and it was a small (little) portion!

The vegetable on the plate was totally cold!

Can you imagine that refilling the wine was self service although 2 waiters are standing in the corner and having a small talk with each other while there are no other guests in the Restaurant?!!

Finally to receive the hand written (!!) bill in an empty Restaurant took 10 minutes.

My subjective rating:

Location: Far away from City Center! View from the terrace: 5 Stars Service: 1 STAR Price and value for money: 2 STARS Quality and preparation of meals: 2-3 STARS WIFI-INTERNET IS AVAILABLE Credit cards...

I have to say that Kairos restaurant is the best thing about Hotel Splendid. The dining staff, Andrea and Paula, were fantastic. They spoke with me every day and made my experience a more personable one. The food itself went above and beyond my expectations. Compliments to the chef! I would definitely recommend this restaurant...

Serata sfortunata per noi e i camerieri dove tirava tantissimo vento, ma tralasciando questo, ho chiesto il pecorino per il primo, ho aspettato 10 minuti dopodiché ho mangiato perché si stava freddando tutto, alla fine che mangio l'ultimo boccone il cameriere giovane arriva con il pecorino.. ma il cameriere giovane con occhiali é stato piu gentile in generale Il cameriere più grande di 45 anni circa più scortese nei modi e si vedeva che stava lì tanto per farlo e prendersi i soldi. Cibo di buona qualità ma prezzi veramente esagerati, fortunatamente abbiamo beccato la serata con il 50% con the fork altrimenti erano 120 euro in 2!! E...
