La Betola — Restaurant in Trieste

Not sure how this restaurant got the rating that it currently has. We (a group of 5 ppl) arrived here around 9:30pm suggested by our hotel host as one of the best places in town. First of, service was a terrible experience. Not that they don’t know how to greet ppl but the way our server threw our appetizer plates, for a moment we thought we had done something wrong. Food was the biggest disappointment of the WEEK. The plates were absolutely HORRIBLE, every single plate was a mess, it’s a shame to call this one a “trattoria italiana” and I don’t know where to start since every plate was left right there.. while I’m writing this review I feel like throwing up just for having tried these dishes... When we told our server about the food not being good, she annoyingly took 1 plate back without being sorry. Thanks for nothing. Hope this review makes you treat ppl better and helps people like us to choose the right places to eat. The only pro about this place was that we took advantage of this food by feeding all the stray cats around...

Wow, very disappointing. I ordered a simple dish of spaghetti alle vongole and it arrived without any (niente!) liquid. Incredible. I asked the waitress (who was very professional) to tell the chef to at least add some pasta water. She understood. It was returned with a bit of liquid and the dish had no taste. Even the vongole was missing flavor. I live in the south of Italy and make this dish on occasion and it's not easy to screw up.
