Pep's Fish House — Restaurant in Trieste

Excellent restaurant. I had a wonderful lunch here. In Trieste, in the city center, it is very hard to eat right on the sea, unless you have a car and drive on the SS14 going out of the city towards the Vittoria lighthouse, where there starts to be many seaside restaurants. As a compromise, (you don't have a car and you are restricted to eat in the city center) you can eat in their outside terrace, where you will have a view of the Trieste porto - harbor, where the fresh sea breeze will add to your culinary experience. To start, I had the "ceviche di branzo" seabass appetizer, which was served in a coconut milk with mango. It was truly original and amazing. For my first plate, I had the spaghetti with mussels with bottarga (cured fish roe) with a great glass of white wine To end my fantastic lunch, I had a chocolate mousse, with again coconut and mango. It was a truly enjoyable experience and I will definitely return to eat here...

We had lunch. Service was very friendly and prompt. I ordered fish&chips, a salad and a beer.

Best fish&chips that I've had out of the UK! The fish was so fresh, that the little fishbones separated themselves from the filet as soon as you dug into it. Nicely balanced and gently flavoured, so that the fresh fish remained the king of the dish. The chips were crunchy and left little of its oil-fried origins behind. The salad was vegetarian, the lettuce was crunchy and the kalamata olives and zucchini were just perfect together. I am always thankful for Italian restaurants who serve exceptionally good olive oil. This was no exception! Which came very nicely together with the served Ciabatta and the salad.

Definitely one of the best meals I've had this year! I'd come back gladly, whenever I may come...

5 commensali, domenica sera. Ci troviamo a scegliere questo ristorante incuriositi dal menù e dalla buona posizione (quasi) sul lungomare. Non avendo prenotato prima speriamo di poter consumare all'esterno, senza successo, nonostante ci fossero posti liberi solo da riordinare. Il personale è composto da due persone, dei quali, uno abbastanza altezzoso e professionale solo a parole, l'altro molto cortese e più disponibile. Pensando di condividere qualche piatto essendo non troppo affamati, ordiniamo inizialmente 2 primi, una degustazioni di antipasti da condividere e un antipasto fuori menù, inclusa una bottiglia di vino e 2 acque. Attendiamo poco più 30 Min. I due primi ( semplice spaghetto al pomodoro e una chitarra con vongole e cozze) senza infamia senza lode; la degustazione, descritta come un acclamato assaggio di tutti gli antipasti presenti in menù, dal "modicissimo " prezzo di 28 euro, si presenta scarsissima ( 1 misera forchettata a porzione) e non sono affatto presenti tutte le portate citate. Lo facciamo notare al cameriere, il quale non sa darci una risposta, che ci assicura di chiedere maggiori info in cucina. Mai avvenuto. Presi dallo sconforto delle prime portate e avendo consumato 3 sacchettini di pane ( profumatamente pagato nel coperto) decidiamo di ordinare ancora un fritto misto e una grigliata di pesce ( piatti più costosi e facilmente condivisibili). Il fritto si presenta in giusta porzione ma molto unto e pesante, mentre la grigliata è molto povera,insipida e abbiamo dovuto richiedere del limone per ben 3 volte. Finiamo col comunicare al cameriere il nostro dissenso sul servizio ma qualsiasi attenuante è stata deviata proponendoci 3 limoncelli. Concludo con l'aggiungere che questa recensione è stata eseguita solo per il fatto che tutti i commensali presenti al tavolo lavorano o gestiscono strutture di ristorazione pertanto rivendichiamo trasparenza e lealtà verso il cliente.
