Bar Petit Jardin — Restaurant in Turin

When most of the other bistros serve only pizza or heavy carb focaccia bread, I was just craving for the “real food”. And finally I found this place where I could have descent primi, secondi and contorni (shrimp pasta, roasted venison as main meat with side dish spinach). The cut-up shrimp diced were overcooked and the flavor was average, veal was ok-ish. Basically you can this kind of food and flavor pretty much in any Italian place in US, nothing too “Italian” nor “Turin” about it. However the pistachio tart is indeed unique and absolutely scrumptious with a big fresh cream made like a rose! BTW, service was courteous.

Non rode andare a nessuno al bar "Petit Jardín." Il lunedì scorso sono andato con un amico al bar "Petit Jardín", io ho ordinato un cappuccino ed il mio amico un succo di arancia. Sono andato in bagno, dopo ho preso il mio cappuccino e sono ritornato in bagno. C'erano due cameriere, una giovane ed un altro più maggiore. La cameriera maggiore ho incominciato a protestare furiosamente dentro il bar (quando io ero in bagno) perché io ero andato 2 volte al bagno, incomprensibile la sua reazione, verità? Il mio amico la ha sentito, naturalmente, e si ha sentito abbastanza scomodo per la situazione. Poi ho chiesto un bicchiere di acqua e dopo un altro, avevo sete, e questa cameriera mi riscosse 1 euro per 2 bicchieri di acqua del rubinetto! Incredibile!! Lo ho pagato, abbiamo detto "addio" ed siamo andato via, ci ha salutato ("addio") solo la cameriera giovane, la più vecchia non ha detto "addio" né niente. Sono ritornato dopo un momento e gli ho chiesto spiegazioni per il trattamento che lei aveva avuto con me. Lei ha voluto restituirmi l'euro che mi riscosse abusivamente per 2 bicchieri di acqua del rubinetto. Io non presi l'euro, gli rimproverai solo il suo atteggiamento ed andai via. Siamo spagnoli ed eravamo in viaggio per l'Italia, quello giorno l'estabames passando in Torino e quell'incidente con la cameriera più vecchia nel bar "Petit Jardín" fu il ricordo più spiacevole che abbiamo del viaggio, in realtà fu l'unica cosa negativa che mi ho passato, perché il resto del viaggio ha trascorso con normalità e la gente era educata e gentile. Absolutely delicious gnocchi and it wasn’t even on the menu! As a ‘veggie’ the lunchtime menu was a little limited but they came up with the gnocchi and it was simply the best I have ever had. The restaurant has a nice ambiance, busy and chatty but not in a bad way. The service was excellent and I can’t criticise Petit Jardin in any way, my wife thought the decor a little dated but it’s perfect, not over the top and not a advert from Ikea! Will def...
