Pastis — Restaurant in Turin

We would have loved to have eaten here, but we didn't even get the chance. When my wife and I visited on October 28 for dinner, a waiter told us "no, we have a special event." When I said, "wow, it seems like a really big event, and it's weird that none of the guests seem to know each other at all," he replied "OK, we can do antipasti." He wouldn't even look at us. My wife could tell I was close to starting something with the guy after that, so we walked away.

My wife is Korean and I'm American, but I was speaking fluent Italian. We were polite. It wasn't late (around 21:15). But whether the waiter was racist or simply didn't like tourists, it was hard for me to walk away from that level of rudeness. And based on other reviews, it seems like we're not the only people who have been treated poorly there. We visit Turin often, but we're not giving Pastis a second chance. There are plenty of better places...

I had a nice time, which features a spacious outdoor area perfect for an aperitivo. We visited on their anniversary and enjoyed a delightful "drink and paint" event. The staff was great, offering complimentary food and drinks throughout the afternoon, making us feel very welcomed. The atmosphere was vibrant and relaxed, ideal for a warm evening. Their Spritz was particularly outstanding, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. Overall, this bar is a great time for friends and offers excellent service, great drinks, and a fantastic ambiance.
