Moeca Osteria — Restaurant in Venice

My expectations for this place were low to begin with, it sits in a tourist square, and screams tourist trap. Amazingly they actually managed to be worse than excepted! Service was pushy. We had barely opened the menu when the waiter demanded to know our order. We were not informed of the cicchetti inside, and ordered from the menu. My expectations were very low, and somehow the food still disappointed. This is clearly food made in a warehouse somewhere. The ‘club sandwich’ was supposed to have egg, but what arrived appeared to be an unseasoned orange sponge. One thin slice of deli turkey, flavorless cheese, and soggy veggies. It was beyond bland, and practically inedible. A can of Coke was €5.

Great experience, great staff and food!

I loved the cicchetti (some advice: you either ask what they have, or you just go inside and take a look yourself ^^, the waiter is not obliged to list everything they have in or outside the menu, unless you ask;). Thus, I absolutely recommend to try them^^. I also had a toast farcito with mushrooms, which was delicious.

As the waiter gave us the menu, I appreciated that he was quick to ask what we wanted to drink, of course if you need time to decide, just say so. Since I live in Venice, I can say this: for the location, the prices and food are well balanced. Essendo del posto, direi che...

Locale in una posizione strategica, tavolini all' aperto piccini, ampia scelta di cicchetti (peccato averli visti solo alla fine), toilette ampia, pulita, adatta anche a disabili. In 5, ora pranzo, siamo stati accolti in modo brusco, ci sono stati consegnati i menù, e subito il cameriere ha preteso che comunicassimo quali bevande avremo consumato. Nessuno ci ha avvisati che all' interno c'era una vasta scelta di freschi cicchetti, pertanto abbiamo ordinato dal menù. Tostone, piadina, lasagna e pizza. Gli snack...bianchi, non cotti. Le 2 lasagne con sfoglie dure e gommose tipiche del riscaldamento a microonde scriteriato. Erano per due persone anziane, non costava nulla aggiungere un po' d' acqua prima di scaldare. Personalmente mi ha infastidito il fatto che nessuno abbia chiesto a turisti stranieri che ci stavano soffocando col loro fumo disgustoso di "moderare".. almeno finché ci sono persone vicine (i tavoli sono piccini e non c' è chissà quale spazio). E l'atteggiamento ansioso- frettoloso dello staff. Keep calm, education please, e vedrete che anziché ricordare il locale per i lati negativi, la prossima volta una stella in più ve la si lascia. Inoltre, almeno con le persone anziane dovreste essere più rispettosi e gentili. Ovviamente il conto non giustificava né la qualità di ciò che abbiamo consumato, né il servizio (no salviette, solo 2 piccoli tovaglioli in carta gialli per i 2 snack).
