Tucked away in a charming little street in the heart of Venice lies a culinary gem that promises an authentic dining experience like no other – Da Carletto. From its quaint location to its delectable offerings, this restaurant captures the essence of Venetian cuisine with flair and finesse. Location: Nestled amidst the labyrinthine streets of Venice, Da Carletto exudes an inviting ambiance that beckons passersby to indulge in its culinary delights. Its central location makes it easily accessible to both locals and tourists alike, yet it retains a sense of intimacy and charm that sets it apart from the bustling crowds. Ambiance: Step inside Da Carletto, and you'll immediately feel at home in its cozy and intimate setting. With seating for around 20 people, the restaurant exudes an air of warmth and familiarity that invites diners to unwind and savor each moment. The rustic décor and welcoming atmosphere set the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. Menu: One of the standout features of Da Carletto is its menu, which eschews the typical tourist fare in favor of authentic Venetian dishes bursting with flavor. From tantalizing pasta dishes to exquisite carpaccio, each item on the menu is a testament to the culinary prowess of the chefs. The pasta with fish is a particular highlight, showcasing the freshest ingredients and expert preparation techniques. Service: While the service at Da Carletto may not be the fastest, it is certainly worth the wait. The attentive staff members are knowledgeable about the menu and eager to ensure that every diner has a memorable experience. While there may be a bit of a wait for the main dish, the attentive service and delectable cuisine more than make up for any minor inconvenience. Price: In a city known for its exorbitant prices, Da Carletto offers a welcome respite with its reasonable pricing. While it may not be the cheapest option in Venice, the quality of the food and the overall dining experience more than...

This was our second official dinner restaurant in the city of Venice -in Italy. We came across this restaurant by looking at The dynamic reviews that it had.

Atmosphere:

It was a very welcoming atmosphere with warm lights, strung across the top of the ceilings. The decor was of a rustic Italian theme with well designed brick walls. The waitstaff was never overwhelming-neither were they out in the alley coaxing in business, as in other cases in Venice.

Waitstaff:

Very professional right from the beginning. Helped us select great meals served our wine appropriately, but never overbearing. Medo was very personable and checked in with us a few times. He was also quick to describe the meals and was excited about serving us the tiramisu - as he proferes it to be the best in Italy! I have seen other reviews where it is noted that the weight staff took a long time to serve, but that was not the case tonight.

Food:

The evening started great with fresh delicious bread serves at table side. Next came ,as a four parts selection , an appetizer plate consisting of local cheeses, which my wife and I really enjoyed. Next came the entrées which included Carbonaro pasta , Fruto Del Maré, and Filet Steak with brown sauce. The carbonara pasta was creamy and contained crispy bits of bacon which added to the flavor. The seafood plate was also delicious with long and excellently spiced prawns. My wife enjoyed a delicious steak, which was very tender and made to order. The waiter was right about the tiramisu, which was just sweet enough, and the crème brûlée was adorned with a nice surface flame that the waiter put on it. Chilled lemon cello and a decaf cappuccino topped off the meals. The bill came to €150 and was well worth it for three.

The waiter escorted us out, held the door for us and was very thankful for our patronage. I would consider this one of the best Italian restaurants that...

Charming little restaurant boasting one of the best crab tagliolinis on the island. I suspect that this is seasonal and it switches between a lobster linguini and this dish depending on season. It’s definitely a highlight of the menu.

It’s honest and refined cooking in a small kitchen so dishes take some time to come out but the quality is always consistently good.

I suggest leaning towards the seasonal specials which at this time of the year includes a wonderful turbot with olives, cherry tomatoes, potatoes and fried capers for 2 at €35 per person that’s plated at the table.

Calamari is also one of the best in Italy. Lightly battered and just delightfully crisp and crunchy.

Carbonara was a bit plain and light, lacking the body and hearty mouthfeel you imagine when you order a carbonara, but still al dente, fragrant and well cooked.

Tiramisu was disappointing, overwhelmed by mascarpone and devoid of espresso or liquor or pastry to balance it.

Cheesecake was not the baked version and tasted very homemade. Although better than the tiramisu.

The atmosphere is quaint and homely, but service is not the most warm though acceptable. They tried to insist we pay cash when we flashed an AMEX for some reason, even suggesting we pay half of the bill by cash, but there was no need to and we insisted to pay by VISA. Don’t let them bully you into this.

All in all a good experience and place I would return to for good cooking in Venice where good meals can be...

We went here because of the reviews on Google, and were unfortunately disappointed. The prices were higher than in the past, based on the menu pictures on Google, leading us to pay €14 for a platter with 5 measly pieces of cheese on it. No matter, we thought, they tasted good. However, I then noticed that my wine glass was dirty (had some residual red wine on the bottom). I didn’t want to seem rude, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to ask for a clean glass. I politely explained to the waiter and asked for a clean glass, and he swapped it out with another glass. This glass was also dirty with red wine at the bottom, so the next time he came over I (very apologetically) asked for another glass. He was very annoyed and rudely asked me where it was dirty. I showed him the red wine residue at the bottom and he took and handed me another glass, saying snarkily “ok, this one has only white wine at the bottom, is that ok?” I didn’t think it was so much to ask for a clean glass, as if a wine glass with some old wine in it is completely normal, especially at a fairly expensive restaurant. The combination of overpricing and terrible service is never a good one (I’ll take one or the other) but because the baked gnocchi was so good, I’ll give this 3 stars instead of 1. I just wish this waiter had not ruined my night out by ridiculing me for what seemed like a very reasonable request for a clean class.
