Myself and my partner were visiting Venice from Scotland in September 2024 and tried a few restaurants in Venice. This restaurant was ok, the service was good with friendly staff and menus were available in English however the quality of the food was mixed.

My partner (who's pescatarian) found food in Italy a challenge due to the lack of food that catered to her in this restaurant and others (a lot of options have meat) so went for a spaghetti in tomato sauce type thing which she did say was nice. I tried the lasagne and was excited to taste a lasagne from Italy and this was one of the worst things I ate in Italy and definitely the worst lasagne I have ever had in my life and I include a cremated one from Zizzi's in that! I wasn't sure if Italian lasagnes actually taste different from the UK ones but did tried one in Bologna and it was brilliant. This was just tomato mush with not a nice flavour in the sauce and an awful texture, it was like eating Weetabix that had been left for an hour in milk. Honestly it was actually a disgrace.

Please do not order the lasagne here as you will be massively disappointed. I gave it 3 stars because everyone was nice, it was clean, English menus and my partner enjoyed her dinner.

It is hard in Venice to actually find a good restaurant and I am sure you could do worse if you are really hungry and in a hurry but explore a bit more and you will probably get something better than this place.

Another plus point for this restaurant is that is actually has an ok website which is a...

Title: Hidden Fees and Dishonest Service — A Total Scam!

I wish I could give this place negative stars. This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.

First, let’s talk about the absurd "hidden fee" — they charged us 2.5€ per person just for basic utensils like knives, forks, and plates. Seriously? Since when do restaurants charge you to use the tools you need to eat the food you’re already paying for? It wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the menu, and we only found out when the bill arrived.

When we questioned it, the server couldn’t have cared less. He just shrugged and said, "That’s how it is." No apology, no explanation — just a dismissive attitude like we were the problem for even asking.

But the worst part? The server flat-out refused to give us a receipt. He mumbled something about the system being broken and walked away. Pretty clear he was trying to hide something — maybe that sneaky utensil fee wasn’t exactly legal? Needless to say, the food was below medium. The pizzas were wet and tasteless.

This place is a complete ripoff. Between the hidden charges and the dishonest service, I left feeling more scammed than satisfied. There are plenty of other Italian spots that won’t nickel-and-dime you for a fork — go to one of...

Let’s call it what it is: a chain. A good chain, perhaps, but still a chain—dolled up in the trappings of Neapolitan authenticity and plunked into the theme park that is central Venice. You don’t walk into Rossopomodoro expecting a local’s secret or Nonna’s magic. You walk in because you’re hungry, it’s close, the menu is familiar, and the kids might stop whining. The pizza? Not bad. Dough’s got some chew, sauce is respectable, and the buffalo mozzarella plays its part. But you’re not being transported to Naples here—you’re getting a decent simulacrum with a side of franchised charm. Service was functional, friendly enough, though stretched thin like the pizza crust. Wine list exists, barely. You’re not here for pairings; you’re here to feed the table without drama. To their credit, they know their market: tourists who want something “Italian” but safe. And hey, sometimes you want the comfort of knowing what you’re going to get—even if it means giving up a bit of soul. Bottom line? Rossopomodoro delivers a clean, efficient version of Italy-lite. Just don’t expect a religious experience.

Actually, I still don't feel ready to give this feedback, because I know very well that whatever I say will be not enough. Thank you to everyone who participated for the best lasagna I've ever had in my life, it's still in my dreams. 🤌🏼 The ambiance is elegant and cozy, the prices are not very affordable but they definitely worth it, the plates are big enough and delicious enough to make you drool, the staff was a bit rude but that happens. we also ordered wine and it was quite tasty. We had the 5 cheese pizza and lasagna, the pizza was perfect and definitely the best I've had in Venice. BUT THE LASAGNA WAS THE BEST LASAGNA I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE AND IN THE WHOLE WORLD, I DIDN'T JUST LOVE IT, I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT. I COULD WRITE POEMS ABOUT IT, I COULD FLY 4 HOURS TO VENICE AGAIN JUST FOR THIS LASAGNA🤪 I sincerely recommend you to eat here, but I beg you to eat the lasagna❤️ Thank you so much for everything, this meal was the best part of my trip. + info : we sat directly on Saturday without a reservation! and in total we paid 46€ for this table

I will never forget this place. We were walking around not even that hungry but when I saw the fresh pizzas being served to customers sitting outside, I stopped everything and forced my parents to have a few pizzas with me. The pizzas were amazing. The service too, was very good, considering that it was really busy. And being really busy is a really good sign! Our waiter was running around like crazy, and it took him about 5 minutes to reach our table. It was a very hot summer day. He came to our table, sat beside my mother, said "mama Mia!" and opened a glass of water and downed it. He was so charming. And whenever my mother would ask for something after, he would come to her and say "Mama, how can I help you?" He was just amazing. The pizzas too, were top notch. People who say there is no good food in Venice - you are out of your minds. This place is charming, and their pizza game is strong. Next time I am in Venice, I know exactly where to go.
