Read moreMyself and my partner were visiting Venice from Scotland in September 2024 and tried a few restaurants in Venice. This restaurant was ok, the service was good with friendly staff and menus were available in English however the quality of the food was mixed.
My partner (who's pescatarian) found food in Italy a challenge due to the lack of food that catered to her in this restaurant and others (a lot of options have meat) so went for a spaghetti in tomato sauce type thing which she did say was nice. I tried the lasagne and was excited to taste a lasagne from Italy and this was one of the worst things I ate in Italy and definitely the worst lasagne I have ever had in my life and I include a cremated one from Zizzi's in that! I wasn't sure if Italian lasagnes actually taste different from the UK ones but did tried one in Bologna and it was brilliant. This was just tomato mush with not a nice flavour in the sauce and an awful texture, it was like eating Weetabix that had been left for an hour in milk. Honestly it was actually a disgrace.
Please do not order the lasagne here as you will be massively disappointed. I gave it 3 stars because everyone was nice, it was clean, English menus and my partner enjoyed her dinner.
It is hard in Venice to actually find a good restaurant and I am sure you could do worse if you are really hungry and in a hurry but explore a bit more and you will probably get something better than this place.
Another plus point for this restaurant is that is actually has an ok website which is a...
Read moreTitle: Hidden Fees and Dishonest Service — A Total Scam!
I wish I could give this place negative stars. This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had.
First, let’s talk about the absurd "hidden fee" — they charged us 2.5€ per person just for basic utensils like knives, forks, and plates. Seriously? Since when do restaurants charge you to use the tools you need to eat the food you’re already paying for? It wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the menu, and we only found out when the bill arrived.
When we questioned it, the server couldn’t have cared less. He just shrugged and said, "That’s how it is." No apology, no explanation — just a dismissive attitude like we were the problem for even asking.
But the worst part? The server flat-out refused to give us a receipt. He mumbled something about the system being broken and walked away. Pretty clear he was trying to hide something — maybe that sneaky utensil fee wasn’t exactly legal? Needless to say, the food was below medium. The pizzas were wet and tasteless.
This place is a complete ripoff. Between the hidden charges and the dishonest service, I left feeling more scammed than satisfied. There are plenty of other Italian spots that won’t nickel-and-dime you for a fork — go to one of...
