BELOW AVERAGE FOOD AND RACIST EMPLOYEES! We were in Vernazza for the day and decided to try the 5 Terre Bistrot for lunch, my wife ordered the lasagna and i decided on a pizza, which were both an embarrassment. the lasagna was a pile of mush and way over cooked, far from aldente as it should be. Pasta in Italy is king and making it mushy is equivalent to serving a well done steak when wanting it medium or medium rare, it just shouldn't be served. My pizza on the other hand was way undercooked, it had absolutely no char and was gummy. the cheese and sauce were also sub par and tasted like something you would get at an amusement park. We both took one bite and told the waiter our concerns and he cleared both plates without asking if we would like it re cooked or if we would like to try something different. Imo the restaurant knows the clientele is tourists and feel they all don't know the difference between good and bad food, so they cut corners and honestly don't care. The worst part was when we went to pay and were surprised at them charging us full price for both meals, no word of saying we are sorry and they had a big attitude, they even said "you dirty Moroccans just want free food" !! we couldn't believe what we were hearing , besides 2 bad plates, we now were hearing racist comments!! Its one thing to eat an entire plate and then say you want it for free, but we both had literally had one bit. They even said if we didn't like what we were hearing, write a review on us and we will just write back at you.... This was our 5th trip to Italy and never had such awful food and rude behavior, i guess when you have thousands of tourists passing by your restaurant they can afford to act this way because these people just go back home and most never return, so they just do not care what so ever. If your planning to visit Vernazza , there are many places to eat and my recommendation is to stay far away from this place...Now for the lying response to my review that they promised to write will...
Read moreFirst Visit - A Delightful Evening I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bistro 5 Terre on October 29, and my first visit was truly delightful. The service was fantastic, with attentive staff who expertly paired wines with each dish. I indulged in a delicious tiramisu and a perfectly balanced grappa to round off the evening. Second Visit - A Disappointing Turn Encouraged by my initial experience, I returned the following night with high expectations. Unfortunately, my second visit was not as enjoyable. Upon arrival, the server seemed displeased with my request to select a table not in the corner. Despite this minor hiccup, I hoped the meal would redeem the evening. A Disappointing Meal I ordered the seafood ragu after being informed that it included prawns, mussels, and cuttlefish. When the dish arrived, it was a disappointment—no prawns, just three not-so-fresh mussels, two small slices of cuttlefish, and what appeared to be a squid tentacle. Although the pasta and sauce were flavourful, the dish fell short of expectations. Additionally, bread service was inconsistent, with the bread being withheld until my meal arrived and then promptly taken away. Dessert and Service Woes Still eager to replicate the previous night’s wonderful dessert experience, I decided to order Panna Cotta with a grappa. Unfortunately, the service continued to disappoint. My plate was cleared with haste and little interaction, and I had to suggest that I may want dessert. The server barely paused to take my order, and I had to actively stop him from leaving before I could request the grappa, which was served in an unsuitable glass. Final Thoughts Bistro 5 Terre offers quality wines and delicious desserts, but my experience was marred by inconsistent service and a lackluster seafood dish on my second visit. While I would recommend trying their dessert and wine selection, be prepared for a mixed experience with the staff. My hope is that others have a more consistently positive experience than I did on my...
Read moreI had the pleasure of having dinner here on a Wednesday night in mid-October. Most of the crowds were packing the mediocre restaurants by the marina, eating bad food. This place was less crowded and a bit farther up the main road, but still reasonably busy. We sat inside, which was better than outside as it was peaceful, no cigarette smoke, and no flies buzzing around. It’s a very quaint restaurant, and the waiters were all very pleasant. For dinner we enjoyed the paccheri with pomodoro sauce, the tagliolini with mussels, the calamari and tuna tataki. Everything was beautifully prepared and presented. The seafood tasted fresh, the pomodoro sauce was to die for, and we also had a really lovely bottle of Nebbiolo. We left with full bellies and warm vibes, we really wouldn’t hesitate to...
