Ikai is the ultimate “à la carte” upscale sushi experience in Verona! The stylish interior mixes the traditional “Seiza” experience of floor-level tables with the comfort of western seating as well as an eye-catching Kaiten area. Launched in 1999, first sushi restaurant in Verona and in the Veneto Region, Ikai gained widely recognized prestige thanks to its high quality sushi ingredients as well as the “Teppanyaki” technique consisting of using an iron griddle to cook several other traditional Japanese dishes such as the renowned luxurious Kobe beef. Read moreExcellent atmosphere, friendly staff. The food is ok. It's not the best sushi I've ever had, it's ok. The kitchen's timing was off tonight resulting in huge lags between courses. They have a very limited vegetarian menu options, so vegetarians beware. That said, the wait staff is willing to work with you to figure out a good vegetarian option.
Another thing to beware of, if you order maki, the price on the menu is the per piece price and you must order two pieces. For example, I ordered the uni which is listed at 4€ and ended up paying 8€ because I had to order 2 pieces. This pricing policy is somewhere on the menu but I wish it was more prominently featured as a "buyer beware."
I'd come back if someone else insisted but definitely not a place I'd put on a...
Read moreOne of the best sushi place I’ve been in Italy. I’m not really a fan of eat-all-you-can for sushi cos of the compromise of quality. I’d rather spend a bit more to be sure I’d get quality, because it’s a raw food. Anyway, this place serves really good sashimi. I can say they’re fresh and the taste was really good. The sashimi is always the best way to judge for freshness. I also appreciate it that they have unagi. The menu is done online, with pictures, thank goodness. Makes it easier for selection. The staff are attentive they are really good with what they do. It is also very organized in there. The ambience is also good, I like the set up of different table settings. Make sure to book your reservation when you want...
