**Review for Trattoria Al Pompiere, Verona** ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ **Food**: If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Verona, Trattoria Al Pompiere is the place to be. The food here is simply excellent, showcasing a deep passion for high-quality hams, salamis, and speck. Each bite is a testament to their dedication to traditional Italian charcuterie. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ **Service**: Service here is exceptional, rivaling some of the best restaurants. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about providing a memorable dining experience. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ **Atmosphere**: The ambiance at Trattoria Al Pompiere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing meal. The combination of excellent food, a great wine range, and top-notch service makes it a standout choice. **Prices**: Prices are reasonable for this kind of evening at a very good restaurant. A meal consisting of one starter, two main courses, two glasses of wine, one sparkling water, and one dessert to share will come to around €90. This is excellent value for the quality of food and service provided. Overall, Trattoria Al Pompiere is a must-visit for anyone in Verona. The combination of excellent food, a great wine range, and top-notch service makes it a standout choice.

We booked a table at Trattoria Al Pompieri months in advance for 1st July, looking forward to dining there during our trip. Two weeks before, we received an email saying the restaurant would be closed for kitchen refurbishment and that our reservation had to be cancelled. We accepted this explanation and rebooked elsewhere. However, on the evening of 1st July, we walked past the restaurant to find it open, busy, and fully operational — no sign of any kitchen works or closures. We went inside and spoke directly with the staff member who had emailed us. Her reaction made it obvious that she had been caught out. She offered no honest explanation. We felt deceived and extremely disappointed. On returning home, we discovered other reviews describing similar situations — last-minute cancellations with vague or false justifications. This seems to be a pattern of behaviour. As travellers who plan ahead and value honesty, we find this level of disrespect and dishonesty unacceptable. We strongly advise future guests to be cautious when booking.

My husband and I came here for dinner during our single night in Verona and boy am I glad we did. The atmosphere was cozy yet bustling and loud. Make sure you have a reservation as we sadly saw people be turned away all night long. The service was truly amazing. We asked the server to pick our food and pair it with wine for us and he did not let us down. We LOVED all the wines, all regional to the Veneto region but we especially were obsessed with the Valpolicella. Don’t worry, the food was just as good as the wine! The bread and pickles that come complimentary with the meal set the tone for what would be a perfect meal honestly. We started with a plate full of cured meats which were hanging from the ceiling above us and hand cut by the butcher in the corner of this small restaurant. We then moved on to the truffle pasta which blew our minds. As our final savory dish we had beef cheek, which we probably wouldn’t have ordered on our own but are so glad we tried! We topped it all off with the fluffiest tiramisu!

The two stars are being given because while I thought the food was high quality the service was one of the worst in comparison to most Italian restaurants. There was a lack of care for my family and I. Our table was cared for ( or not cared for ) by a bald older gentleman who’s name I did not catch. Barbara his assistant though poured wine for our table. She poured one glass of red wine for my father to a normal portion and then two the other two people in the party my mother and grandmother got half assed glasses that had about 5 sips worth in them. To top the whole experience off we repeatedly reminded them that we were short on time so they decided to take as long as they desired. Tables of larger parties that entered after us got their food before us- although we practically ordered the same thing. This was not the only issue. When we repeatedly asked for the check, the waitstaff needed reminding 5 or 6 times before they brought us a sorbet rather than what we asked for. Granted, this sorbet was probably a peace offering in order to smooth things over because we did confront them about the wine and they frankly could not care less and once again left our table unattended for a half hour. For the price of the dinner and food quality I would go else where before considering going here. They do not care for you it is all...

Trattoria al Pompiere is not the easiest of places to find and from the outside it is totally unpretentious. We walked by it first time and had to backtrack using our GPS but we were so glad we made the effort. The beautifully air conditioned traditional Italian style restaurant was a welcome relief from the scorching heat of Verona on the 14th July this year. The greeting from the staff was friendly and professional and we were seated and served with nice cold water in minutes. None of us are competent with Italian so an English speaking waiter was assigned to explain the menu to us and to give us his excellent recommendations. We started with a meat antipasti platter of their mouth watering salamies and parma ham washed down with an excellent Valpolicella. The mains were Beef Cheek with amarone, and two pasta dishes. All three were delicious. Beautifully cooked, excellent presentation, and so flavoursome. Because we were told not to leave without trying their Tiramisu, we shared one. It was so light and totally delicious. This is not an inexpensive restaurant but it was worth every euro. Excluding the wine the bill came to €114 for three people. I would not go to Verona again without at least one visit to Trattoria al Pompiere. By the way, they open at 1pm for lunch and last orders are 2.30 so don't take...
