I had the pleasure of trying the burger at this café, and I have to say, it completely exceeded my expectations. From the very first bite, you can tell that care and thought went into crafting it. The bun was perfectly toasted—soft inside but with just the right amount of crisp on the edges to hold everything together without falling apart.
The patty itself was juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. You could taste the quality of the meat—it had that homemade, fresh-off-the-grill flavor that’s hard to find. It wasn’t overly greasy, just rich enough to be satisfying. The toppings were fresh and balanced: crisp lettuce, ripe tomato, onions with just the right bite, and a great sauce that tied everything together without overpowering the natural flavors.
What stood out even more was the atmosphere and the people. The café itself is cozy and welcoming, and the staff are incredibly kind. They don’t just serve food; they make you feel comfortable, like you’re a regular even if it’s your first time. That kind of hospitality makes the whole experience memorable.
All in all, this is easily one of the best burgers I’ve had in Okinawa. If you’re looking for a spot where the food is great and the people are genuinely nice, this café is worth every visit. Highly recommended! ...
Read moreLet me preface by saying i have an american palate and not a japanese one. Atmosphere is pretty cool takes me straight back to an american hipster bar. Service was great, they took my order and it came out pretty fast. I order the Frankey burger, with Garlic truffle parmasan fries, and the wife got the chicken wrap. The chicken wrap was good although it was made with thigh meat so just a heads up to people expecting breasts. My burger was not good. The meat was so tough i had troubles cutting it in half with the serrated knife provided. However if youve had a japanese burger before this is the standard patty across island (like wolf burger, back bone, Gordies). The fries were something else.... they had a very canned tuna smell to them. (They dont serve fish here at frankey tavern btw) If i closed my eyes and ignored the mouth feel of the the french fry, they i would have been 100% certain it was a fish stick. I have no idea how this would happen unless they confused the truffle oil with the oyster sauce is my only explanation... wife double verified i wasnt insane. Ginger...
Read moreFranky Tavern in Okinawa might just be my new happy place. I ordered the 1/2 lb ribeye, truffle fries, carne asada tacos, and a green smoothie, because balance, right?
First off, the ribeye? Perfectly cooked. Juicy, tender, and seasoned like it whispered its hopes and dreams to the grill before landing on my plate. The truffle fries were so good I briefly considered guarding them with my life.
Now, the real plot twist, tacos. If you’ve lived on this island long enough, you know good tacos are about as rare as a parking spot on a rainy day at Kadena. But these carne asada tacos? Delicious. Flavor-packed, juicy, and wrapped in a homemade tortilla that tasted like someone’s grandma was in the back rolling them with love and maybe a little attitude.
And then there’s the green smoothie. It made me feel slightly healthier after eating everything else, like I earned +1 vitality in a video game.
Franky Tavern, you’ve got my heart and my stomach. I’ll definitely be back, probably sooner than my diet...
