FUKUGIYA CAFE RESTAURANT — Restaurant in Chatan

I have driven past this quaint cafe many a time and have never thought to sit down and try it until this week. This cafe is associated with the Naha bakery, Fukugiya, and receives shipments of the layered cake to serve to their customers. They also sell freshly-baked bread (3 different types) by the half loaf. I have ordered the chicken and pork sandwich on two separate occasions and they were both savory and delicious. The pickled salad is Japanese style so quite vinegary and sour and not at all salty, which I prefer. I have loved the clam chowder both times and would easily order it again. I've been coming here every year during my annual family visit. Unfortunately, this time the service was less than stellar; a miscommunication of an order resulted in missing food items that took forever to arrive despite being asked twice. We also had to politely remind staff to provide us with utensils. This was well before any rush hour.
