麓 -ROKU- — Restaurant in Fujiyoshida

週末に家族でランチに行きました。この商店街は観光地と聞いていたので予約しましたが、滞在中、他のお客さんは一組も来ませんでした。

価格は完全に観光客向けで、都内の『叙々苑』並みに高いですが、量は少なめ。ステーキとしゃぶしゃぶの味は普通でしたが、「ほうとうボロネーゼ」は美味しかったです。

注文はQRコード経由ですが、システムに不具合があり、細かい注文ができませんでした。店員を呼んでも対応できず、最終的にはマネージャーらしき方が口頭での注文を手入力してくれました。

特に残念だったのは、しゃぶしゃぶの具材を鍋に入れる際、女性店員が誤って熱湯を妻の足にこぼしたことです。妻は軽い火傷を負い、楽しみにしていた温泉にも入れなくなりました。

スタッフの人数は多いものの、サービスは価格に見合っていません。若い女性スタッフは料理名を口にしていたようですが、声が小さく聞き取れませんでした。個室には呼び出しボタンもなく、用があるたびに私が席を立って店員を呼びに行く必要がありました。厨房には5〜6人のスタッフが固まって立っていて、連携も不十分な印象でした。従業員の接客態度と熱い料理を出す際、今回のような事故がないように指導をお願いしたいです。

We had lunch here with our family over the weekend. Since we heard this shopping street is a tourist destination, we made a reservation. However, during our entire stay, not a single other customer came in.

The pricing is clearly set for tourists — very expensive, comparable to high-end places like Jojoen in Tokyo — but the portions were small. The steak and shabu-shabu were just average, though the “Hōtō Bolognese” was quite good.

Ordering is done via QR code, but the system had problems and didn’t allow detailed customization. The staff couldn’t resolve it, and eventually, someone who seemed to be the manager entered our order manually after we explained it verbally.

What was truly unacceptable was when a female staff member accidentally spilled boiling water on my wife’s foot while placing ingredients into the shabu-shabu pot. She suffered a minor burn and was unable to enjoy the hot springs we had been looking forward to.

Although there were many staff members, the service did not match the pricing. The young female servers seemed to announce the names of the dishes, but they were too quiet to hear clearly. Since we were in a private room with no call button, I had to leave my seat and go find staff every time we needed something. Meanwhile, 5 or 6 staff members stood idly in the kitchen, showing a lack of coordination.

Service is nice even if the owners are untrustworthy people. The place has a great view and the menu is different and unique which is the places main selling points. It is not a "local" spot, hence the lack of locals frequenting it with the reviews mainly being around the same time frame since most are from their friends. It's why they have so many reviews over a short period of time, even when compared to other shops and their slow season makes the numbers more disproportionate(parent company from Tokyo be shady) and the high price tag marks this a tourist location.

Run do not walk to this restaurant. The food was stellar and the service top notch. Very welcoming and food presentation and flavors were so outstanding. The manager speaks English very well and his team work well together and are very kind and attentive. The QR code ordering allowed us to easily order drinks, appetizers, entrees and desserts. I recommend the steak plate and pumpkin pasta with the local beer and plum whisky. Salad and roasted veggies were wonderful as sides to the entrees. ...
