If you have been to Beni-Hana this is not that. You have a dedicated chef waiting on you (from order placement to drink and food service). Like a omakase sushi chef they watch your pace of eating and gauge when to start preparing the next dish. So you can see my 5-star service rating rationale. The portion size was very small but the accompaniments for the meat were tasty (wasabi, toasted garlic, pink salt). The most thrilling was to have the seared wagyu sushi. The least was the boiled seafood stew which was fun to see cooked in the clear bag but less interesting to eat out of the crinkled plastic in a bowl. The upside of having teppanyaki seating is you get to watch the chef and the people around you. So, it was a good eating experience as a tourist to people watch. Really appreciative that the hotel staff were able to accept our late dinner reservation request. Afterwards we reflected that we might have missed a course of our seasonal...
Read moreThis is the first time I came visit this restaurant. The Wagyu sushi, Saga wagyu and Nagasaki wagyu that I had were delicious, the Otowa lunch course was well thought out and price is decent. The atmosphere of the restaurant itself is towards the darker tone, maybe a bit more lightings on the inner side of the dining area without the windows would help.
The second time I visited, I was turned away due to restaurant being fully booked and I had no booking.
The third time I came walk-in and got a table. I ordered the Otowa lunch course again and its as good as before. This time the wagyu is from Kagoshima instead of Sage and Nagasaki and I find the wagyu from this time even better than the ones I had first time.
The restaurant is about 10 minutes walk away from Hakata Station. As there is a chance you don't get a table having walked all the way there hoping for a walk-in, I would suggest you book a table...
Read moreA pleasant if somewhat safe and predictable fancy Teppanyaki meal is what you get here. Pre-ordered the Seasonal Menu for lunch when I booked via TableCheck and it was fine. A multi-course meal, it was centred on Miyazaki Wagyu prepared in a few ways, and included a few seasonal vegetables. All the ingredients seem to be sourced from different parts of Japan. The fried rice with shiso was the highlight for me. Dessert was also lovely - the mango from Miyazaki served with coconut sorbet, was ripe and sweet. Overall, a lovely dining experience that is befitting of the restaurant location which is inside the gorgeous lush grounds of the “With The...
