This bakery is often recommended and has a lovely location with nice views over the lake, which makes it a popular stop for many visitors exploring Hakone. It’s also one of the few options around the area, so it tends to get quite a bit of attention.
🥐 The Bakery Experience On the ground floor, you’ll find a wide variety of pastries—each one individually wrapped in plastic for hygiene. While this is common in Japan, it can sometimes affect the freshness. For example, my pain au chocolat was unfortunately quite hard, and it felt like it might not have been baked that morning.
☕ Café Seating & Drinks If you’d like to eat in, there’s a second floor where you can sit down as long as you order at least one drink per person. Just note that here they only offer regular milk—no dairy alternatives. I ordered a matcha latte, which came already sweetened (sugar is added by default), so it might be too sweet for some.
🧾 Ordering System You place your order at a vending-style machine, and they’ll call your number (printed on the receipt) when your order is ready.
🥄 Third Floor Option There’s also a third floor café with a slightly different menu—soy and oat milk are available there, but prices are noticeably higher. For example, the drip coffee costs almost twice as much, though it’s intended to be shared by two people, as kindly explained by the staff.
📝 Final Thoughts It’s a convenient stop with lovely views, and the staff were polite and helpful. Just keep in mind that the food and drinks might not match the level of the view, especially if you’ve tried other bakeries in Japan. Still, it can be a nice rest stop during your visit...

We were fairly hungry from taking the ropeway and pirateship, and this was a great convenient stop just a few steps from the port. Go to the third floor and wait for a seat at the sit-in restaurant. You get to enjoy a fabulous view of the chef preparing the incredibly big and tasty sandwiches, while also looking at a fabulous view of the lake.
Ambience - top notch 5 stars incomparable to anything else. It's a-maz-ing. A well done high class interior with a view to match.
Food - sandwiches were HUGE. The ingredients were amazingly fresh and tasty, like seriously. The veggies everything was so clean and fresh it's out of this world. The grilled meats were hot and juicy, just prepared before going into the sandwiches. Wow the food is worth it alone, even without the view.
Service - impeccable.
I believe the bakery is also as great. However when we came out at near 4pm, the bakery was totally closed. I suppose they dont operate too late. Be warned!
I believe there's also a footbath out front of the...
Read moreTerrible service with no heart! We were four adults and two children who ordered food and drink, after which we started eating what we ordered. Even though we sat on the cafe's first floor, there was still an emphatic waitress who walked around and counted the number of drinks per guest. Apparently the rule is that all guests must order at least one drink. It is not stated anywhere and we were not told about it when ordering. We had all bought something to eat, but according to their undisclosed rule we were missing a drink. We were asked to leave the cafe and eat the rest on the lane outside even though it was raining! I am deeply frustrated by such a lack of situational awareness that we are asked to go outside in the rain with two small children who were tired and hungry. Could this nagging waitress have asked herself and her intuition if her service was good or if she could have handled the situation in 1000 other better ways?
And secondary, the food is rather...
